Keltic Kelp

Keltic Kelp I was brought up in Lewis in the 1980s. A few months ago, at the beginning of 2025 while chatting to my son who is now 28, he recalled this to me.

I spent my student years working at a seaweed factory in the village of Keose on the Island of Lewis in the Outer Hebrides of Scotland. During the long shifts there I would regularly stare in the tones of Seaweed that were pilled up to be dried and exported for processing to a Alginates factory in Girvan. When staring at the seaweed in particular Bladder Wrack you could almost imagine small bubble shaped people in amongst it. Years later when my son was born I used to write stories about characters based on these shapes, hence Keltic Kelp arrived on the scene. At which point I was surprised he still remembered the stories. Hence, we come to today when I have decided to write a series of books over the coming months about the adventures of Keltic Kelp with a strong emphasis on environmental issues that are affecting the environment our seas shores and the planet.
