What a lovely Sunday we’ve had! 💒✨
We started the day with our Sunday Church Service, and those who wished to take Holy Communion were able to do so, thanks to our very own Reverend and carer, Jeremiah. It was a truly special moment. Many of our residents have been regular church-goers throughout their lives, so being able to continue receiving Holy Communion, share a prayer, and even sing a favourite hymn means the world to them. ❤️🙏🎶

After such a peaceful and uplifting morning, we rounded off the day with something a little more lively… a cheerful game of skittles! 🎳😄 As always, it didn’t take long before everyone was joining in—because really, who can resist? The only downside is that the fun has to end eventually!

We say we don’t keep score… but considering how often we play (and how competitive a few of us are getting 👀😂), we might just have to start keeping track!

Another Sunday well spent, filled with joy, community, and a good bit of friendly mischief. 💛

🎄 Wonderful Wednesday Fun at Brunswick House! 🎄

Every Wednesday we’re lucky enough to welcome the lovely students from Ribston Hall High School, and this week they brought enough energy to power the Christmas lights! With the festive season fast approaching, we got into the spirit early with some cheerful Christmas colouring. ✨🖍️

Meanwhile, a few brave students stepped up for a heated game of draughts with one of our residents. It quickly turned into a ladies vs. gents showdown… and let’s just say the ladies reigned supreme! 👑♟️ Sorry gentlemen—there’s always a rematch!

And speaking of games… next week we’re planning a mini game-fest! 🎲🎉 We love showing off our fun side here at Brunswick House, so keep an eye out—there will be plenty of laughs, competition, and maybe even a few surprise winners!

We truly cherish these weekly visits. The students bring joy, chatter, and fresh stories, and our residents absolutely adore spending time with them. 💛

Tuesday means one thing… Matt is BACK for our gentle exercise session! 🎉
We’ve missed him these past two weeks while he’s been off sick, so everyone was extra happy to see his smiling face return.

Today’s session included some competitive bean-bag tossing, a few joint-loosening exercises, and a relaxing cool-down with calming music and gentle hand and body movements. 🧘‍♀️💫

Kevin wasn’t too keen on the exercise part, but he did enjoy the music—and even had a little dance with Hollie! 💃🕺

🎉 Friday Funday did NOT disappoint! 🎉
We kicked off the morning with the legendary return of Darren and a fiercely competitive game of Boccia. And when I say it was close… I mean nail-biting, seat-gripping, spectators-gasping close! 😅

Team Blue came out strong with an early lead, but Team Red clearly had their Weetabix because they slowly crept up and leveled the score. The tension! The drama! The accidental cheating! 👀

Speaking of which… our very own Judge Alice had a tiny disagreement with Empire Darren when she was caught ever-so-casually nudging a ball with her foot. Purely accidental of course… we think. 😉⚖️

Between the competition, the laughter, and the dramatic commentary from the sidelines, the hour absolutely flew by. And just like that, the game ended in a well-earned draw! Huge thanks to Darren — can’t wait to see you again soon! 🙌

But the fun didn’t end there… oh no.
After lunch we kicked off our brand-new Knitting & Crochet Club! 🧶✨ With the help of three lovely ladies Susan, Nikki and Angelia who kindly volunteered their time (because I’ll be honest… my crochet knowledge only stretches as far as “it uses a hook”), we had an amazing first session.

The staff were well into it — honestly, I think they were more invested than the residents! First-week excitement at its finest. Fingers crossed next week we get even more people joining in.

Meanwhile, Sheila was absolutely flying through her knitting like she never stopped — rows and rows (I think that’s the right word 😅), just sailing off her needles. She was thrilled, and so were we!

We’ll be hosting our next Knitting Club next Friday, so if you fancy joining us, please do! Everyone’s welcome — and yes, there will definitely be a cuppa and cake waiting for you. ☕🍰💛

🎶 Wednesday = Concert Day! 🎶
And wow… what a Wednesday we had!

We welcomed the wonderful David back to the house, and as always, he brought the full package—joy, laughter, balloons, bubbles, and those beloved classic tunes that never get old. The man doesn’t just sing… he lights up the whole building the moment he arrives!

Our lovely Rose proudly reclaimed her spot as David’s No. 1 groupie, singing along like a true superstar. 🌟🎤

And this week, we were lucky enough to have the fantastic students from Ribston High School join us! They got straight up onto the dance floor with us, proving once again that the “old classics” truly span every generation. 🕺💃

Speaking of the dance floor… yes, we were up there too! Dancing our socks off, twirling, laughing, and absolutely wearing ourselves out—but in the best way possible. Afterwards it was drinks all round… soft drinks of course! 🥤😄

The room was buzzing, the energy was high, and the smiles were everywhere. We had an absolutely brilliant time and are already counting down the days until David’s next visit—because next time he’s giving us a MAGIC SHOW! 🪄✨

If his magic is anything like his singing, we just know we’re in for a real treat. Can’t wait! 🌟

🎶🎤 A Singalong and Some Armchair Basket/Netball Madness! 🎤🏀

Yesterday turned into one of those days that just filled the room with joy! We started off with an impromptu singalong — the lovely Jean suggested some good old wartime songs, and of course, we all jumped right in! 🎵 Before long, the whole room was singing their hearts out. There were smiles, clapping, and even a few happy tears — it truly went down a treat! ❤️

Then, as if that wasn’t enough fun, we decided to try our hands at a bit of armchair basket/netball… and oh my goodness, what a laugh that was! 😂

At first, we thought it might be a calm little game, but it quickly turned into a full-on comedy show. The laughter was nonstop as the ball went flying in every direction — we had people getting caught off guard, faces and hands taking surprise hits, and lots of giggles all around!

There were some sneaky shots that swished right through the hoop, a few that bounced straight back out, and even some that took out the whole net (oops!). The competitive spirit definitely came out — but all in good fun, of course. 😄

We even managed to surprise a few staff members by tossing the ball their way as they walked through — thankfully, they were great sports and joined in the chaos!

When the game finally had to end, we were all a bit gutted — no one wanted it to stop because we were having such a blast. So don’t worry, Round 2 of Armchair Basket/Netball is definitely on the cards! 🙌

🎄 Calling all our lovely crafters! 🎄

We’re looking for some helping hands to create beautiful Christmas wreaths and table centerpieces for our home. I’ll admit, crafting isn’t my strongest skill, I have the idea just not the technique — so I’m reaching out to all you talented folks!

If you’re able to spare a bit of time to come along and help our residents make some festive door wreaths and table decorations, we’d absolutely love to hear from you.

Your help will bring plenty of smiles, laughter, and Christmas cheer to everyone here, and make our home feel wonderfully Christmassy.

🎄✨ Getting festive again! Yesterday we kicked off our Christmas card making — and what a lovely start we’ve made! There’s something extra special about a handmade card… you can just feel the love in every glittery, gluey detail 💌

We’ve still got plenty more to do, so keep an eye out for our next crafty session — you know we won’t be able to resist adding a bit more sparkle!

After all that creativity, we took some time to relax in our cosy ladies’ circle. These wonderful ladies love a good chat together every day — so much so, we sometimes run out of chairs! But hey, a little chair-shuffling is worth it for all the smiles and laughter that follow ❤️

In the afternoon, we switched gears and tested our royal knowledge with a fun quiz about the Royal Family. No photos this time (the quiz master was too busy keeping score! 👑), but it was full of laughter, “aha!” moments, and a few friendly debates over the answers.

🌺 Remembrance Sunday vibes! 🌺
Today we got creative and made our very own poppies to wear with pride ❤️ We drew the flowers on card, added a soft felt centre, a paper leaf, and a trusty pipe cleaner stem — simple but oh so effective! We think they turned out blooming marvellous! 🌸

In the afternoon, we kept the flower theme going with some lovely flower arranging. It’s one of our favourite activities — it brings back happy memories, helps us recall all those beautiful flower names and scents, and of course, makes the house look (and smell!) gorgeous 🌷💐

To finish off the day, we had a little impromptu dance with Kevin — and what a star he was! 💃🕺 His smile lit up the room and reminded us exactly why we love what we do. 💖

🎄✨ The festive season is on its way, and we thought it was about time to start getting into the Christmas spirit! ✨🎅

We dusted off our big Christmas box and discovered all sorts of treasures inside — from coloring Christmas trees decorations and sparkling bauble decorations to cheerful winter picture scenes. 🎨🌟

It’s only the beginning of our festive fun, but the Christmas magic has already begun to fill the air here at Brunswick House Nursing Home! ❤️
