Trek to Trafford 109.56 km over £5,500 raised for MND in memory of Jordan pilkongton- forever 27
"It takes a village" and I was so honoured to play a small part in this journey. Months of planning by Lewis and his fiancée Ness behinds the scenes which is no mean feat, huge support from local run club members coming along to support on the legs, sponsors from local business'. Every person that came along and ran. The support cyclists Steve and Rob keeping our runners safe. Lewis and Amy who completed the whole distance which is phenomenal, Chrissie who completed 50 km in memory of her mum.
I wasn't lucky enough to meet Jord, but his legacy shines on through his family Zane Izzy and ab uncle Lewis and Craig and the memories they shared with me along yesterday's journey. The impact that jord has left on so many people is testiment to what a wonderful person he was, and how his memory lives on. And a thanks to Lewis parents Ian and Tracey who welcomed me into yesterday's backstage crew and made me feel so welcome.
It was truly an honour to help everyone yesterday with sports therapy support, working out niggles, massaging, giving advice, and making sure the runners could carry on to go the distance. I was lucky enough to be able to join for the final 7 miles where things got tough and alot of determination to get to the end was on show! There was a few words of encouragement, a few choice swear words when we ended up off route in a field 😂 and a few great debates deciding which 5 liquids we would choose to come out of our fingers 😂
Crewing is a tough but rewarding job- one I think I prefer to actually running myself, seeing people achieve goals is a hugely rewarding experience.
Some epic sprint finishes on show as we approached the finish line at old trafford and lots of well deserved tears
Lewis I know you will never stop until there is a cure for MND, and I hope to be a part of your future fundraisers- but for now REST UP and be proud of what you have all achieved!!
