Last night Snow Moon Ritual and Soundbath meditation at the Harmony Hub.
We started our evening with grounding drumming, crystal bowls & chimes

• We did gentle humming to settle Nervous system & vagus nerve.

• Our Candle ritual for self-purification & emotional release was beautiful and
One of the interesting questions we asked ourselves (If I spoke to myself as my own best friend, what would I say?)

• Guided meditation & reflective journaling, and closed with crystal bowls.

Thank you to everyone who came out in the cold weather. It was wonderful to share your space and your time. Xx

Next gathering is The New Moon Sunday 15th February @ Ahsa Wellness Centre at 6.30pm

🌑 Why This New Moon Ritual on Sunday 15th February Is Different

There are many sound baths available — and that’s a beautiful thing.
But this offering is intentionally different.

This is not just a sound bath.
It’s a guided New Moon ritual, held with care, presence, and purpose.

✨ Here’s what makes this experience unique:

🌿 You are guided from start to finish
From the moment you arrive, you’re gently led into the space — grounding the body, settling the nervous system, and creating emotional safety before sound begins.

🌑 We work with New Moon energy intentionally
This gathering is aligned with the lunar cycle — a time for stillness, reflection, and planting seeds.
Nothing is rushed. Nothing is forced.

🕯 Ritual, not performance
This is a held ceremonial space that includes meditation, intention setting, journaling, and integration — not just lying down and leaving.

🤍 Nervous-system led, not overwhelming
The sound is chosen and offered gently to support rest, regulation, and inner listening — especially for those who feel sensitive, burnt out, or overwhelmed.

🌱 You leave grounded, not floaty
The closing circle allows time to land, reflect, and take something meaningful with you — so the experience continues beyond the mat.

This space is for you if:
• You crave depth over volume
• You want to feel held, not rushed
• You’re ready for gentle change, not another thing to “do”

✨ This is an invitation to slow down, listen inward, and begin again — quietly.

Is putting adolescents on the pill “the answer” for heavy periods?

Short answer:
➡️ Sometimes it’s a tool
➡️ But it should not be the automatic or only answer

Heavy bleeding in adolescence is common, especially in the first 2–5 years after menarche, because the hormonal system is still maturing.

What’s actually happening hormonally in adolescents?

During puberty:
• The hypothalamic–pituitary–ovarian (HPO) axis is still developing
• Ovulation is often irregular or absent
• This leads to unopposed estrogen, which can cause:
• Heavy bleeding
• Frequent cycles
• Long or unpredictable periods

This is not pathology in many cases — it’s part of maturation.

🌀 The body is learning how to cycle.

What the pill does

The combined oral contraceptive pill:
• Overrides the natural cycle
• Suppresses ovulation
• Creates a synthetic, withdrawal bleed (not a true menstrual cycle)
• Can reduce bleeding quickly and predictably

From a medical perspective, it’s often used because:
• It works fast
• It’s familiar to doctors
• It reduces anemia risk in severe cases

The concern many parents & practitioners share

Starting the pill very early may:
• Bypass the body’s opportunity to learn hormonal regulation
• Mask underlying contributors (nutrient deficiencies, stress, inflammation)
• Interrupt the natural feedback loops between brain–ovaries–uterus
• Affect long-term cycle literacy and body awareness

This doesn’t mean it’s harmful in all cases — but it shouldn’t be default without investigation.

When the pill may be appropriate

✔️ Severe bleeding causing anemia
✔️ Bleeding affecting school attendance or quality of life
✔️ Suspected bleeding disorders
✔️ When other approaches have failed
✔️ As a temporary stabilising measure, not a lifelong solution

In these cases, it can be protective and necessary.

What should ideally be explored before or alongside the pill

A truly adolescent-centred approach includes:

Medical checks
• Iron & ferritin levels
• Thyroid function
• Bleeding disorders (e.g. von Willebrand disease)
• Cycle pattern history

Foundational supports
• Adequate iron, zinc, B vitamins
• Blood sugar stability
• Nervous system regulation
• Sleep and circadian rhythm
• Stress load (school, social, trauma)

Gentle holistic supports (age-appropriate)
• Education about the menstrual cycle
• Body literacy & reassurance
• Simple abdominal self-massage
• Warmth therapy
• Breathwork / EFT for nervous system calming

(Not invasive practices, not adult sexualised language)

The key question to ask isn’t:

“Should she go on the pill or not?”

It’s:

“What is this young body trying to learn, and how can we support it safely?”
