Excerpt: 5 Menopause No-No's: What Your Body Wishes Youโ€™d Stop Right Now.

Skipping Vitamin D and Calcium ๐ŸŒž
๐Ÿ’ก In the UK, 1 in 2 women over 50 will experience an osteoporosis-related fracture during their lifetime. Additionally, vitamin D deficiency affects up to 70% of postmenopausal women in winter months. Without enough vitamin D and calcium, your bones become brittle, increasing your risk of fractures.

What Works Instead:
๐ŸŒž For Vitamin D:
April to September: Safe sun exposure (10โ€“15 minutes/day).
October to March: Take a 10-microgram supplement daily.
๐Ÿ“Œ Popular options:
Holland & Barrett Vitamin D3 (ยฃ5.99 for 100 tablets)
Boots Vitamin D supplements (ยฃ4.50 for 90 tablets)
BetterYou D3000 Vitamin D spray (ยฃ8.99)
๐Ÿฆด For Calcium: Aim for 700mg daily(or 400IU) NHS through:
Dairy (milk, cheese, yoghurt)
Leafy greens (kale, spinach) ๐Ÿฅฌ
Fish with soft bones (canned sardines, salmon, anchovies, pilchards) ๐ŸŸ
Fortified plant milks ๐Ÿฅ›

Embracing Wellness Through Exercise: A Guide for Pre- and Post-menopausal Women
As women transition through the stages of menopause, their bodies undergo significant changes that can impact their overall health and well-being.
Here are the Exercises that can help you in PRE-POST menopause

Cardiovascular (Aerobic) Exercise:
Engage in at least 150 minutes of moderate-intensity aerobic exercise per week, such as brisk walking, jogging, swimming, cycling, or dancing.

Strength Training:
Incorporate strength training exercises at least twice a week to build muscle mass, which helps maintain bone density, improve balance, and reduce the risk of osteoporosis. Squats, lunges, and resistance training using dumbbells or free weights are excellent options.

Core Strengthening

Target your core muscles, which are essential for stability, posture, and back support, through exercises like planks, crunches, and Pilates. Strong core muscles help prevent injuries and improve overall body alignment.

Flexibility Exercises:
Regular stretching exercises enhance flexibility, range of motion, and reduce muscle stiffness. Yoga, tai chi, and gentle stretching routines are excellent choices for improving flexibility and maintaining joint health.

Balance Exercises:
Balance exercises help prevent falls, which are a significant risk factor for older adults. Activities like tai chi, yoga, and using a balance ball can improve stability and coordination.

Low-Impact Activities:
If you have joint pain or injuries, consider low-impact activities like swimming, cycling, or water aerobics. These exercises are gentle on the joints while still providing cardiovascular benefits.

Exercise is essential for women of all ages, but it is especially important for pre-and post-menopausal women. During these times
of life women go through significant hormonal
changes that can impact their physical and mental health. Exercise can help to mitigate the negative effects of these changes and promote overall health and well-being.

For pre-menopausal women, exercise can help to:

Reduce stress and anxiety
Improve mood and cognitive function
Manage weight gain
Strengthen bones and muscles
Reduce the risk of chronic diseases

For post-menopausal women, exercise can help to:

Maintain a healthy weight
Prevent bone loss and osteoporosis
Reduce the risk of chronic diseases, such as heart disease, stroke, and cancer
Improve balance and coordination
Boost mood and reduce depression

Women are born with a complete supply of eggs, which are stored in their ovaries. The ovaries also produce the hormones oestrogen and progesterone, which govern the menstrual cycle and the release of eggs. Menopause occurs when the ovaries cease monthly egg release and menstruation ceases. During this phase, women may experience various menopausal symptoms, including cardiovascular issues, bone fractures, discomfort during in*******se, digestive sluggishness, weight gain, and an increased risk of uterine, breast, and colorectal cancers. If you are encountering such challenges, it is advisable to consult with your general practitioner (GP) today.

Unveiling New Frontiers: The Annual Menopause Societyโ€™s Conference starts today in Philadelphia.

Introduction:
The Menopause Specialists Clinic is proud to post today from the Menopause Society's Annual Conference, starting in Philadelphia, USA. The ground-breaking event in the menopause arena will explore the latest advancements and research, bringing together participants worldwide to exchange knowledge, shape policies, and foster collaborations that can significantly improve the lives of millions of women.

Pioneering Research and Discoveries:

The main objective of the Annual Menopause Society Conference is to offer a forum for eminent researchers, scientists, and clinicians to share revolutionary discoveries in menopause. Participants will receive the most up-to-date information on hormone therapy, symptom control, and the potential long-term health outcomes of menopause. These discoveries can potentially cause a significant change in the understanding and treatment of menopause.

Empowering Women's Health:

One of the conference's main goals is to empower women by shedding light on precision medicine and effective strategies for managing symptoms and promoting overall well-being during the menopausal transition. The talks and real-life situations will centre around cancer Treatment, Heart Health, Bone Strength, Sexual Well-being, alternative methods of managing symptoms instead of hormones, and ensuring menopausal patients receive correct information amidst the prevalence of misleading content online. The discussions will cover comprehensive strategies, such as making lifestyle changes, using hormonal treatments, and incorporating psychotherapy and pelvic physical therapy.

Our aim at the Menopause Specialist Clinic is to equip women with the latest knowledge and tools they need to navigate this significant phase of life with confidence.

Breaking Stigmas and Raising Awareness:

Stereotypes and misconceptions still surround menopause. The Annual Menopause Society Conference aims to challenge and dismantle these stigmas through open dialogues and awareness campaigns. Speakers will address the social, economic, and psychological challenges women face through menopause while also emphasising the biological and physiological aspects. By normalising the dialogue around menopause, the conference aims to create a more supportive and understanding environment for women globally.

Global Collaborations:

Dr Silas Gimba, our Clinic's representative in person at the annual event and one of a limited number of UK specialists also recognised as a Menopause Society Certified Practitioner, will have the opportunity to establish connections with other professionals in the menopause field during this conference, providing an invaluable networking platform.
Attendees including researchers, policymakers, and industry experts will exchange ideas and form collaborations essential for advancing menopause research and practices..

Conclusion:
The Menopause Specialists Clinic leads the way in offering and promoting evidence-based medical care, and that is why we are here in person at the Menopause Societyโ€™s Conference in Philadelphia, a transformative event for women's health globally.
