Calling all Dads out there

Are you having a tough time being a Dad right now?

Are you finding it hard to communicate with them?

Are you really worried about them and their future?

Are you sick of the battle with devices and how you see it dictating their mood, their self and their life?

Are you a new parent struggling with lack of sleep?

Are you unsure of your role as Dad?

Are you overwhelmed with the enormity of the whole time of being a parent?

Whatever your worries and problems over being a parent, they're valid, and it can help to pool knowledge. It can be a godsend to listen to others experiences and wisdoms, problems and stumbles, you can share yours too.

It doesn't matter if you're a weekend Dad, a single full time Dad, or a Dad who doesn't get to see them often at all, and it doesn't make a difference to us whether they're a baby, a teen or anywhere in between... you're welcome with us.

itsgd2tk are looking to start up a local Dads discussion, support, social and Empowerment group, in the local area.

If youre interested please comment or get in touch via dm, email itsgd2tk@gmail.com or WhatsApp 07841973037.

If you know any Dads you think might be interested, please share.

Today, as news of Rolf Harris’ passing reaches us, we want to take a moment to acknowledge that this news might be especially triggering for survivors of sexual abuse. It is important to recognise the impact that conversations around high-profile cases can have on those with similar experiences.

Survivors of sexual abuse may find it distressing to see the names of perpetrators resurface, as it can bring back painful memories and traumas. If you have been affected by sexual abuse, you are not alone.

Remember, it is okay to take a break from social media or any other news outlets if it becomes overwhelming ❤️

Post Traumatic Stress Disorder can be so difficult to explain to someone else. It’s hard to explain how it makes you feel, as most of the time, you don’t even understand it yourself. To those who have an analytical mind, you can try to explain the science behind PTSD – why it does what it does – but even then, it’s a complicated brain function. If however, you’ve watched Inside Out, from Pixar, it could be a little easier for you to understand PTSD – and sometimes simply understanding can be a real comfort to those with it.

Admittedly, Inside Out is an animated cartoon, about creatures that live in your head which embody joy, fear, anger etc, but the logic behind it is rooted in the truth of how a brain works (to a point).

We’ve written this article simply as another means of understanding PTSD, and it may also help you to explain PTSD to a child or young adult too.

1 in 6 children and young people have a diagnosable mental health condition. This week, we’re supporting ’s - raising awareness of the importance of children and young people’s mental health - and understanding how they can occur can sometimes be the first step to dealing with it.

Find out how your brain works, Inside Out style, here: https://www.ptsduk.org/understanding-ptsd-if-youve-seen-pixars-inside-out
