Yesterday, we had a positive discussion with Tom Gordon about the pressures on the local care sector.
While demand for care roles is strong, recruitment remains a challenge. Care work requires compassion, professionalism, and training, and there are real career opportunities, but the sector needs more recognition and support to attract people.
We also talked about the impact on clients and families when care falls short. Even isolated issues can damage trust, affecting both families and the sector’s reputation. Rebuilding confidence through consistent, person-centred care is essential.
It was encouraging to discuss how better government support, sustainable funding, and valuing staff and clients can strengthen the sector.
We'd like to thank Tom Gordon and his team for taking the time to speak with us.
