It's Carers Rights Day!

Every day, 12,000 people become unpaid carers for a partner, family member or a friend – many of whom don’t see themselves as carers, often unaware of their legal rights and what they’re entitled to in terms of support and benefits.

Support is available for all carers. Care for the Carers can help you understand your rights and talk to you about the support we offer and from services across the county. Please get in touch.

As the weather turns colder, you might not be thinking of flowers, but this daisy can help prevent serious burns. 🌼

Did you know that on the neck of every hot water bottle is a daisy which shows when it was manufactured? Once a hot water bottle is more than 2 years old, the rubber or PVC can begin to degrade, crack or leak, increasing your risk of getting injured, so it is important to know how old yours is before you use it.

These simple steps can prevent painful injuries:
✅ Always check the manufacturing date stamped on your hot water bottle.
✅ If it’s more than 2 years old, replace it – even if it looks fine.
✅ Never use boiling water, and avoid overfilling.

Stay warm, stay safe. ❄️

Carers Rights Day is fast approaching. This year’s theme is: Know your rights, use your rights.

Do you look after someone who couldn’t manage without your help? Whether they need support due to illness, frailty, disability, mental health challenges, or addiction, if they rely on you, then you are a carer.

This Thursday, 20th November, we’ll be joining the national campaign to support unpaid carers in understanding what they’re entitled to. We’ll be sharing information and resources across our website, page, and in the surgery to highlight what’s available locally.

We’ve also added a new Carers Identification Form to our website. This allows our patients to share more details about who they care for and their caring role, helping us offer appropriate support or referrals and ensuring this is recorded in your notes and on our carers register. You’ll also find a small Carers Rights Day display in our waiting room with leaflets and paper copies of the form if you prefer to complete it in person.

Graduation day finally arrived for Nicola, our practice nurse, one year after completing her nursing degree.

It’s lovely to see her achievement recognised and celebrated properly.

Well done again, Nicola - very well deserved.

Asthma is one of the leading causes of emergency hospital admissions in children, and many flare-ups are preventable.

It's important to make sure your child is using their inhalers correctly:

✅ They should be using their preventer inhaler every day, even when well
❌ If asthma is well controlled, they SHOULDN’T need their blue reliever inhaler more than 3 times a week
🩺 If they do, contact your GP or asthma nurse to book an asthma review
