What’s on your mind.
That’s what the start of a new page always asks.
Well what is on your mind. Get rid of all those negative thoughts and feelings. But that’s harder than you think I I don’t just have a switch that I can flip.
No you don’t. But you do have an amazing brain that CAN change how you perceive things. How you think about yourself and others.
Agreed it’s not easy and doesn’t happen over night. But you can do it your brain doesn’t know what is true or what is false. Your brain is listening to your thought. Your brain is your thoughts. Think about that for a moment and see if you can make one small change.
To day is dull and rainy,
Miserable you say. But is it. Put down in the comments something good/positive about today I will start us off.

I love the way the light hits the crystals hanging in my window. ❤️

I love to hear the birds singing in the early mornings. ❤️

If taught me one thing, it was that everything was 'my fault'. It was the only way to survive psychologically – by taking the blame, by being the bad one, the world made sense and what was happening to me made sense.

Of course it was NEVER my fault, but I internalised that blame and continued, for decades after the original abuse, to blame myself and berate myself and hate myself for anything and everything.

That constant self-criticism was a symptom of trauma as much as the flashbacks or dysregulation were. And so I had to learn to give myself a break, and not beat myself up quite so incessantly. Easier said than done – it took a LOT of work to unlearn those survival patterns of childhood – but it was instrumental in my healing and recovery.

WHAT IS TRAUMA

Everyone thinks it’s the event that’s happened,
It’s not it’s the emotions that follow the event, it’s what happens inside of us. It’s not the event itself - it’s how our body and mind remember it, it’s our nervous system stuck in survival mode after a painful experience.
We can have many trauma events, they can eventually become like green leaves on a tree that never fall, the leaves just grow and become closer to each other. We become over whelmed and can’t cope, we experience stress and anxiety, our body goes into flight, fright, freeze.
Trauma can come from one event or many / large or small, it all develops inside of us. ❣️. Remember trauma isn’t the event it’s our reaction to it. We are not Broken we just need a re-boot

🌿 Why Working With Your Senses is Essential for Regulating the Nervous System 🌿

As I sit here in a state of dysregulation, I thought I'd share something about using the senses to help calm the nervous system. What works for me: loud music through headphones, Aircon on my face, sucking a sweet and vibration.

Our nervous system is constantly scanning for cues of safety or threat, and our senses are the messengers. What we see, hear, smell, taste, and feel plays a powerful role in how regulated (or dysregulated) we are.

When we intentionally engage the senses, we can shift out of fight-or-flight and into a more grounded, calm state. This is why practices like breathwork, calming music, warm tea, soft textures, or nature sounds can feel so soothing they signal safety to the nervous system.

Sensory regulation isn't just about relaxation it's about resilience. By building a sensory toolkit that works for your body, you create a pathway to return to center, even during stress or overwhelm.

💡 Start simple:

Run your hands under warm water

Wrap yourself in a weighted blanket

Light a candle with a scent you love

Listen to a song that makes your body exhale

📸 Image is not mine - but some great tips, and definitely not just for children!

Regulating your nervous system starts with noticing what you feel and honoring what your body needs.

✨ Your senses are a doorway to safety. Use them with intention. ✨
