This is me looking down at yet another edible plant, after spotting 21 on a tiny little stroll this morning. 21! The abundance of Spring is marvellous 🤩

If you would like to find out more about how to forage safely and responsibly, why not join us on our Practically Wild Women’s Wild Food session on Saturday 25th April 12 - 3pm, when we’ll have a little wander around Westfield before returning to the woodland to cook… on a fire of course!

£25 buys you some time in nature with like-minded others, a delicious light lunch and some identification skills to add to 🍃

☀️ ☀️ What better way to celebrate these sunny longer days than with a foraged supper?
A bouquet of fresh green leaves became pakora, served with mint raita and lime pickle.
Joyful, healthy and satisfying 🙂 🙂

Picking wild food is a simple pleasure, but there
are some things to think about before you get started. Some plants in some places are protected, some are poisonous and some contain parasites. There is a right way to forage, and a wrong way. Positive identification is key, and if in doubt, leave it out!

If you’d like to learn more about ‘eating weeds’ safely, confidently and responsibly, why not join us for our Practically Wild women’s wild food session on Saturday 25th April 2026 12 - 3pm? We will meet in Westfield near Hastings, go for a short walk together and return to the woodland to prepare and cook what we’ve found on the fire. And at £25, it’s a cost-effective way to grab some ‘me-time’,
with refreshments included 💚

We had a lovely time in the woods yesterday, making some hazel, willow and bramble bird feeders. We were surrounded by their wonderful song, and it felt like spring was in the air…

Why not join us on Saturday 21st March 12 - 3pm for our Practically Wild women’s creative session, and have a go at making your own biodegradable feeder? We’ll supply everything you need (including drinks, snacks and great company!), as well as an opportunity to learn more about and celebrate the avian world, find out what snitte are and make one of your own if you feel like it. All for just £25!

Get in touch to book a place or find out more on 07970 545317 or send us a message 🙂

Such lovely weather yesterday… for ducks! 🦆

And for the wonderful group of intrepid young explorers too (and their hardy adults), who made the most of a very wet and muddy woodland by making delicious Gruffalo crumble, hiding hazelnuts for hungry mice, toasting marshmallows and jumping in very impressive puddles. Thank you for getting stuck in and making sure we left with sunny smiles 🌞

Our next family stay and play sessions for under 8s will be on Saturday 2nd May 10-12 or 2-4 (£18 for one adult and one child), so get in touch on 07970 545317, DM us or email office@practicallywild.co.uk if you’d like to book a space or find out more 🙂

What a terrific task day! What a team! In just 3 hours we managed to give the pathways some TLC, create a wood pile, prep some fuel for the kettles and fire, and sort out a table. We used the table to put together some three-cornered leek quesadilla… delicious 😋

A loud shout out to all of the wonderful Practically Wild women who gave their time on a grey February day… it’s so appreciated ❤️
Thanks too to our generous host for accommodating our muddy crew, and to Richard, for your all-round support 🙏
