----------------------------------------------------------
It's been a full couple of weeks with menopause awareness month/week/day.
I'm tired. I've overstretched myself. I haven't been listening to the messages my body has been sending me.
When I'm tired life feels harder. My cuppeth, runneth empty!
🙃 My sense of humour goes AWOL.
🙃 The addiction script pops up and I want to change the way I feel through food, mindless social media, binge-watching TV and over-thinking.
🙃 I focus on what's wrong in life, my attention goes to doom and gloom.
🙃 I want to isolate but feel lonely!
🙃 I nip at my loved ones and make small digs because I'm not great at creating boundaries and then blame others.
🙃 I close down and withdraw yet crave intimacy and connection.
🙃 I feel overwhelmed and want to cancel my plans but then think my life is boring.
🙃 I believe the inner critic's nonsense and lies.
🙃 My go-to phrase is 'What's the point?'
🙃 I ignore the cues to rest but I don't seem to get anything done.
🙃 My well-being and self-care habits disappear.
🙃 Dramatic Diedre (the internal script that wants to make everything a drama) starts chatting nonsense.
Most of the above is the negative script that chatters away in the background. When my energy is good, it's easier for me to choose to ignore it and focus on the positives.
Do you identify with this? Is tiredness a trigger for you? Do you rest enough?
Experience shows me that a few early nights, proper rest while slowing down and listening will have me back feeling great.
