Caitlin nominated Joanne: "My second nomination is my sister in law, Joanne. She is a biochemist and is currently working on the covid testing kits. She has been working long hours with a skeleton crew to try to help the UK win against the battle of covid. She never wants praise for what she does but she deserves it!"

Hi everyone, thank you so much for all your nominations for your Local Heroes. This project is now coming to a close and I have 2 spaces left if anyone would like a portrait of someone they consider heroic/inspiring during lockdown.

Drop me a message if you're interested 🎨🌈

Cazza nominated her friend Angela "She is also a junior doctor working on equally busy covid and non-covid wards. She is one of the most knowledgeable junior doctors I know, is always free and willing to lend a hand wherever she can and even though I've only known her a year, she is always available to listen.

Every patient she has is lucky to have her care for them"

A lovely Local Hero Nomination from Charles: "This is Stella Walters. In normal times, Stella runs the Old Cell in Chapel-en-le-Frith, now her business has closed because of the Virus. Not only is she a carer for her partner Martin, but she is using the time whilst her business is shut to volunteer for the local community - she's one of the leading figures behind the Chapel-en-le-Frith COVID-19 Mutual Aid Group, she spends most of her week delivering donated food to people who need a bit of a hand during this pandemic. She gives 110% to her community"

Caitlin nominated her best friend Kay as her local hero, here's her reason: "She works part time in tesco and is a volunteer councillor. She is full of life and love and has supported me and many others through this lockdown. She has never seen her value in society and now she is one of the few people working through this crisis to supply us with food whilst we sit safely at home. She is a hero, but she doesn't know it."

Another lovely nomination from Cathryn for a local hero:

"Isabelle is currently at university training to be a qualified paramedic. During the Covid-19 outbreak she is volunteering with the ambulance and local hospital. My whole family are super proud of her."

I've had a few nominations for Jason Manford as a Local Hero. He has had such a positive influence on people during lockdown and I can see why Rob and Katie nominated him.

Here are some lovely words from Rob "For the duration of lockdown, Jason has strived to keep a smile on the faces of everyone. With his lockdown quizzes, hilarious videos and brilliantly funny weekly radio show, he has certainly succeeded in keeping a lot of people sane! As well as that, he’s also volunteer driving for those in need in his community and that deserves a lot of respect. I’m sure he’d argue he isn’t a hero in the great scheme of things, but I and many others would beg to differ! πŸ™Œ"

Thank you for all your nominations and donations so far πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘

David nominated Emma as his Local Hero: "I wanted to nominate my amazing sister in law Emma. Not only is she a mother of three amazing children she is also on the frontline working tirelessly for the NHS. She is always thinking of others and wanted to show her some appreciation for what she is doing."

Thank you all for your nominations and donations to NHS charities so far, I am blown away with how many inspiring people we are surrounded by πŸ‘πŸ’™

Alex was nominated for being a Local Hero by both Karen and Megan, working as a postman, Alex didn't sign up to put himself at risk, but his resilience and hard work means that the massively increased demand on deliveries is still available.

Claire's lovely nomination for her Local Hero is Alice. Here's some words from Claire "I nominate Alice. Alice is a manager of a local care home and is doing an amazing job of looking after all residents at this time whilst their families and loved ones sadly can't be around.
Alice cares for each and every resident like her own family member and is doing a fantastic job of protecting them alongside her staff at this difficult time.
Her friends, family and colleagues are all so thankful and proud. Thank you Alice."

Local Heroes | Bobby

Sam nominated her husband Bobby who is working as a construction worker. When speaking to Sam she pointed out how important our construction workers are, Bobby has been working on apartment blocks and vital homes, and without people like Bobby these wouldn't be still available. Think of the speed in which workers set up our all important Nightingale hospitals.

Here's Sam's reason for her nomination:

"I nominate Bobby because like all other construction workers who are still working at this difficult time if it wasn't for them we wouldn't have homes, schools, hospitals and infrastructure. So I just wanted to say thank you. Keep up the hard work."
