Thoughtful Thursday...

It's that time of the year where exams are just round the corner. Are you struggling to retain your revision or do you need any advice on how to help you retain it?

'Anything that's really difficult, record a voice note on your phone, then just before bed when you're in your most relaxed state, listen to it as this is the time your mind will then remember that information more clearly.'

Why not give a go and see if it works! Good Luck!

Our Physiotherapist Arun says - Simple things such as ankle pumps and compression socks help to manage this.

Ankle Pumps: Keep your heels on the floor and lift the front of your feet toward you as high as possible. Hold for a second or two, then flatten your feet and lift your heels as high as possible, keeping the balls of your feet on the floor. Continue for 30 seconds, and repeat from time to time.

Ankle Circles: Lift your feet off the floor and twirl your feet as if you’re drawing circles with your toes. Continue this for 15 seconds, then reverse direction. Repeat as the ankle pumps.

We're ascending towards the summer holiday season, you want to book a holiday but too afraid to fly?

Bethan, our qualified Clinical Hypnotherapist, can help you overcome those fears! As with any phobia, our brains are trying to protect us. They do this in a variety of ways, often creating strong feelings and emotions about something that feels out of our control. Hypnotherapy helps the mind to recalibrate it's understanding of safety. To allow you to feel calm, and to build resilience. Resulting in the phobia no longer controlling you and allowing you to enjoy every bit of your holiday.

Arun, one of our physiotherapists, gives advice on how to strengthen the Tibialis Anterior muscle...
'This could be as simple as leaning against the wall and raising the ankles towards yourself (toes up). Progression to this could be sitting on a high platform and holding a dumbbell or any weight between the foot and raising your ankle with this weight towards yourself for 10-12 repetitions and 3-5 sets.'
Often overlooked, an important muscle in walking and running, be aware and train your Tibialis Anterior!

Amongst the most under trained muscles is the Tibialis Anterior. A muscle that runs on the front of the leg and is responsible for lifting the ankle up during various activities. All the exercises for legs in the gym focus on big muscle groups like the Quads, Glutes, Hams and calf. This leads to an imbalance in the leg musculature.
