All the leather we use is a by-product of meat production. It is collected by the Sarki (Nepali people who have worked with leather for many years). It is then dyed by hand using different herbs and mustard oil. Then it is combined with the other natural materials we use such as organic cotton or h**p, and woven into a beautiful bag. 🙃
Nepal is a developing country, they utilise every resource they have, and there is very little waste.

What awful news :(

It’s not what we wanted to find. When Greenpeace set sail to the Antarctic earlier this year, we were going to look for the incredible wildlife — tottering penguins, majestic whales, soaring seabirds — that call the Antarctic Ocean home.

Empowering women in Nepal.

Our story

When I was 18 I travelled to Nepal, here I was introduced to a charity helping families who have suffered from exploitation and violence.

The majority of the mothers are parents of the girls who attend the Nepali House Girls School‎. It is a school for girls who would otherwise have a difficult time fitting into mainstream Nepali education. Some of the girls have severe behavioural problems or mental health concerns. Some of the children come from families where mental health, addictions and violence are prevalent.

The mothers are provided training to make beautiful bags from natural fibres, this empowers the women as they are able to earn their own money for their families. Their pay is in accordance with the fair market rates for the kind of work that they do, they are also provided with meals while working .
