๐น Remembrance Day 2025 ๐น
Today, we pause to honour and remember all those who have served and sacrificed for our country. Their bravery, dedication, and spirit will never be forgotten.
This year, our Remembrance window display is dedicated to Kurt Oliver Etheridge, a young soldier from Hereford who tragically lost his life in 2012 while based at Catterick Garrison, where he was undergoing training with The Rifles.
Kurt was just 21 years old - a kind, determined young man who was proud to be serving his country. Though his life was heartbreakingly cut short following a tragic accident on the A1(M), his memory and the pride he brought to those who knew him live on.
We had the great honour of conducting Kurtโs funeral, and it is incredibly meaningful for us to dedicate this yearโs Remembrance display to his memory.
In honour of Kurtโs family, we also remember his great-grandfathers who served bravely during the Second World War:
โข ๐ช Pte George Etheridge (1948), believed to have served with the 158th Brigade in the 53rd Welsh Division, who thankfully made it home after the war.
โข ๐๏ธ Pte Lloyd Cecil Douglas Prothero (4036122), who served with the 7th Battalion, The Oxfordshire & Buckinghamshire Light Infantry. He paid the ultimate sacrifice at the Battle of Monte Cassino, Italy, on 28th February 1944, and never found his way home.
As we reflect this Remembrance Day, we remember Kurt, his family, and all those - past and present - who gave, and continue to give, so much for our freedom.
Lest We Forget. โค๏ธ
