~~~KEEP YOUR PETS SAFE DURING STORM BARRA~~~
As Storm Barra hits us today it's important to think about the safety of our pets and be prepared.
Here's some top tips:
* Keep them inside during the worst of the storm.
* Keep things calm and cozy indoors, your dog or cat might appreciate a little den!
* Check for damaged/fallen fences in the garden before letting your dog out.
* Animals can get disoriented, panic and become lost in high winds so keep them on a lead on walks.
* Don't let dogs swim in rivers as the currents will be stronger in the rain and wind.
Cats are REALLY good at hiding pain - especially chronic pain or illness.
Researchers at The University of Montreal have developed a reliable tool to assess pain based on subtle facial expressions we see in our cats.
Little signs like flattened ears, squinted eyes and a tense muzzle can tell us so much about how our cats are feeling!
The Feline Grimace Scale is a tool for assessment of acute pain in cats based on changes in facial expression. It can be used by veterinarians in hospitals, clinics, shelters and research laboratories. Useful for pet owners and anyone interested in feline health and animal welfare.
