Key Aspects of Seborrheic Keratosis - Removal 22nd Feb 2026.

Causes: The exact cause is unknown, but they are a sign of skin aging and may have genetic links.
Risk Factors: Age (most common >50), family history, and sun exposure.

Symptoms: Raised, brown/black, waxy or crusty, “stuck-on” appearance, generally 1–3 cm or larger.

Treatment: No treatment is required, but they can be removed for cosmetic reasons or irritation via cryotherapy (freezing), curettage (scraping), laser, or electrosurgery.

Prognosis: They are benign and do not turn into cancer. While individual growths can be removed, others may appear over time.
