“I wasn’t ready to be a mother, even in my early 30s. Biologically that’s unfair, and that isn’t going to go away without medical advances. But we can do something about the judgement surrounding women who choose to become mothers later in life.”

In a recent article in the Radio Times, Vicky Pattison spoke about the backlash she received following the decision to freeze her eggs.

Egg donation plays an important role in fertility treatment, giving individuals and couples another option when other routes haven’t worked. It involves time, commitment, and careful decision-making, but it can also make a real difference. 💚

Stories like this one highlight how donation can come from within families, with one person choosing to help another take the next step towards parenthood.

How are eggs frozen? ❄️

Vitrification is a rapid freezing technique that cools eggs to extremely low temperatures. This “flash-freezing” process prevents the formation of damaging ice crystals by transforming the eggs into a glass-like state, safely preserving them for future IVF treatments.

How do I measure the quality and quantity of my eggs? 🥚✨

Here’s the truth: there’s currently no test that can measure egg quality. But there is a test that helps us understand egg quantity. It’s called AMH (Anti-Müllerian Hormone).

AMH gives insight into your ovarian reserve, meaning the number of eggs left in your ovaries. It is produced by growing follicles, which reflect your total egg pool.

👉Higher AMH means more eggs in reserve.👉Lower AMH means fewer eggs and potentially less time to conceive.

Knowing your AMH can help you make informed decisions about your fertility and future family planning, because knowledge is power 💛
