We believe that a garden should look at any time of year. So when designing a planting scheme we look to ensure that there is the right balance of evergreen structure and texture, as well as seasonal moments whether that be with colour, scent or form.

We love plants that have long seasons of interest, particularly grasses and flowers that keep their seedheads, so that they can be enjoyed even on a frosty day.

Enveloping seating areas and patios with generous planting beds really helps to soften hard edges.
In this clients’ garden we designed a space to relax away from the house, encouraging them to venture out further and be immersed in nature.

As you can see through the development of the space, plants bring colour, texture, movement and can add a ’green moment’ to any garden.

After all that rain last week, hopefully you’ve got a brighter view out of your window today!

To inspire you to start thinking about greening up your garden, we thought we’d show you how we transformed our clients’ courtyard.
* The beautiful old brick wall gave us a fantastic headstart in this courtyard space but planting can be just as impactful without.
* Whatever your backdrop, increasing the depth of the borders and adding some vertical interest with climbers and shrubs can immediately transform your outlook.
* We also sourced some beautiful furniture, repurposed existing trellis and chose a complementary planting palette to complete the transformation so it looks good to look out onto, all year round.

What a difference a day makes! We felt the warmth of the sun on our faces for a short time yesterday when we were outside picking plants for lovely new clients.

Wonderful colours and foliage even at this time of year, with Hellebores always being a favourite.

TIS’ THE SEASON TO PLANT

We’ve just revisited a patio that we created for a client in Cambridgeshire.
The Autumn colours in the planting are fabulous! It’s a lovely balance between the evergreen structure of Beech hedging, generous late-flowering perennials like Sedum, colour-changing leaves of Spiraea, grassy seedheads and seasonal berries on the Pyracantha.

A few months on, we’ve just revisited a wonderful family garden transformation in Hertfordshire — designed to bring everyone together, whatever the season.

This multi-functional space combines:

A beautiful aged brick wall acted as a backdrop for a new avenue of trees and lush borders, enveloping the garden in colour and texture — and with a carefully designed lighting scheme, the space can be enjoyed day or night, all year round.
