How does diet affect fertility?⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Suffering from infertility is heartbreaking 💔⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Lifestyle factors such as weight, smoking, diet, and alcohol consumption, can impact how fertile we are and a poor diet can cause hormonal imbalances, which can result in issues with ovulation. For example, excess insulin in the body can interfere with ovulation by stopping eggs from maturing and increasing the formation of ovarian cysts.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
A woman will often have high levels of insulin if she consumes a diet high in processed carbohydrates with lots of starchy foods such as white bread and white potatoes. Consequently, consuming certain foods and cutting out others can actually improve fertility.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The following micronutrients are believed to have positive effects on fertility, for women trying to conceive naturally:⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
- Vitamin B12⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
- Folic acid⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
- Omega-3 fatty acids⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
To conceive, men need to be producing healthy numbers of s***m – a process also influenced by hormones. A healthy diet and weight will aid s***m quality and numbers.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

What are phthalates, and why should you avoid them? 🍼⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Phthalates are a family of industrial chemicals used to soften polyvinyl chloride (PVC) plastic and as solvents in cosmetics and other consumer products. Exposure to phthalates has been linked to Asthma, Breast Cancer, Obesity, Type II Diabetes, low IQ, neurodevelopmental issues, behavioural issues, Autism Spectrum Disorders, altered reproductive development, and male fertility issues.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Examples of products containing phthalates include:⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
💄 Cosmetic⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
🧱 Building materials⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
👕 Fabrics and textiles⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
📱 Electronics⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
🚂 Children's toys⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Phthalates have also been found in dairy products, meats, fish, oils and fats, baked goods, infant formula, processed foods, fast foods and even drinking water.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
So how can you reduce your exposure to phthalates?!⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Phthalates are so widespread that they are impossible to eliminate from our lives entirely, and there is no easy way to tell if a product has added phthalates. Labels rarely state “contains phthalates”! But you can reduce your exposure by:⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
- Choosing fragrance-free personal care products⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
- Avoiding scented candles and sprays⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
- Don't buy plastic toys and teethers, choose natural rubber or wood instead⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
- Choose flooring and home furnishings in natural materials like cotton, linen, or wood⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
If you'd like to discuss the effect of phthalates further, do feel free to get in touch; drop us a DM, or visit our website.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

How can setting boundaries support your mental health?⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Creating, setting, and following through with personal boundaries will help maintain your mental health by giving you a sense of control over your life, in turn reducing feelings of depression, stress, anxiety, and more. Making boundaries for yourself can be difficult to do at first, but to get started here are a few tips:⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
🧠 Look to your core values when setting boundaries, what matters most to you?⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
🧠 Be assertive and consistent. People will test your boundaries, make sure you stick to them.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
🧠 Learn to say “no” - one of the hardest but most important things you can do to protect your mental health!⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
🧠 Communicate clearly. Make your intentions and values known.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
🧠 Start small; get used to setting boundaries with the small things before moving on to bigger ones.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Being consistent with implementing boundaries will increase your self-esteem, conserve emotional energy, and create more independence in your life.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Once you’ve made boundaries known in your life, it’s natural for people to test them. We all have different values and boundaries and we all deserve to have them respected.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Honour your needs and make yourself and your mental health the priority today!⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
A whole new month, full of possibility!⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

We're looking forward to crisp air, crunchy leaves, cosy socks, and of course, steaming bowls of delicious, autumnal food.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Top of our list is this delicious coconut curry - equal parts warming, filling, and totally tasty! 🍛 It's a little heavy on the ingredients list, but quick to whip up and oh so worth the extra measuring.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
You'll need:⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
200g diced butternut squash⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
140g diced tofu⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
1/2 diced ripe mango⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
1 onion⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
1cm ginger⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
1 garlic clove⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
1/2 red chilli⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
1/2 tsp tumeric⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
1/2 tsp ground cumin⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
1/2 tsp ground coriander⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
1 tsp tamari or soy sauce⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
150ml vegetable stock⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
150ml coconut milk⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Roast the squash for 15-20 minutes at 200c until soft. Meanwhile, pat the tofu dry and fry in a drizzle of oil.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Fry the onion until soft then add the ginger, garlic, chilli and spices and heat until fragrant. Stir through the mango and squash and add the stock, coconut milk and tamari and simmer until the sauce thickens. Add the tofu a few minutes before serving to heat through.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Serve hot ♨️ with rice, or flatbreads.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
