~Any threat to our safety and the nervous system immediately shuts down the digestive system. When asked, most people will commonly say they feel a sense of stress in their stomachs, describing it as a knot or ache, which they can't explain, but know they feel unwell.
~Continuous stress can look like overwhelm, aches and pains, racing heart, worry, exhaustion, continuous sick feelings, trouble with sleep and much more, and can impact the digestive system by:
* Reducing our capacity to release digestive enzymes, gastric acid and bile to break down our foods & absorb our nutrients. This can cause bloating, distension, pain, flatulence and gas, joint pain, skin issues, inflammation, headaches, weight gain.
* Impacting the communication along the gut-brain axis leading to swinging bowel movements (constipation/diarrhoea).
* Disrupting the balance of bacteria in our gut can promote excess inflammation & other systemic health issues relating to mood balance, hormones & our immune response.
Addressing emotional issues can resolve and improve digestive problems. Kinesiology will address the connection between stress, your emotional wellbeing and your digestive system.
