How do you enjoy your coffee in the morning?

I like my first coffee of the day from our caffeine, freshly ground, I enjoy one shot of espresso with oat milk.
There’s something about my first coffee. Rich, creamy and aromatic, Resembling a familiar friend. The delicious fragrance hits first as it pours in to my cup and some mornings I’m tempted to not even bother adding the milk!
But patience is a virtue and nothing bad came of those who can wait. That first smooth, velvety sip is always such a pleasure!

Mindfulness meditation involves sitting silently and paying attention to thoughts, sounds, the sensations of breathing or parts of the body, bringing your attention back whenever the mind starts to wander.

In general, we seek to develop three key characteristics of mindfulness:

* Intention to cultivate awareness (and return to it again and again)
* Attention to what is occurring in the present moment (simply observing thoughts, feelings, sensations as they arise)
* Attitude that is non-judgmental, curious, and kind.

Why do you give it a go! Try it when you are making your coffee or tea?! Or even maybe when you are folding the washing or washing up!?

In my experience of yoga, genuine personal connection between the teacher and student is fundamental to the effectiveness of the practice

The relationship between a student and teacher is a central and transformative component, sometimes viewed as the heart of the practice itself. This connection is built on trust and mutual affection, allowing the teacher to personalise guidance, support a student’s growth, and help them navigate challenges to discover their own truth and self-trust.

Human connections foster growth, harmony, and deeper understanding.

While modern yoga often involves significant physical movement (asanas or postures), the practice as a whole is not exclusively focused on it; rather, the ultimate goal of yoga extends to mental and spiritual disciplines.

Thursday Fun fact about me ……..

A love of sport developed from an early age. A passion that I’ve managed to turn into a lifestyle. Driven by purpose, determined to make sure that sport is much more accessible for girls than it was when I was growing up.

This is where my passion for giving quality experiences to girls in sport comes from.

In July I joined the Hitchin Belles FC and took on the role as Wellbeing Ambassador.

My role consists of supporting our players during their training sessions, and also attending some of their matches. Building relationships with both players, parents, guardians and coaches to support an overall network of relationships, to help create a supportive and safe environment for all.

Girls in sport have a higher likelihood of facing barriers like body image concerns and fear of judgment, puberty! And generally having all male coaches, which may lead to avoidance of approaching coaches with personal concerns.

So it’s good to be a familiar female face who holds experience in both girls and young women, and sport!

The well-being of girls in sports is crucial because it significantly boosts their mental, social, and physical health, leading to higher self-esteem, a more positive body image, and better stress management. Sport provides a unique environment for girls to develop essential life skills like teamwork, discipline, and leadership, and can create lifelong healthy habits. Prioritising well-being in girls’ sports is vital for their overall development and long-term health.

Yoga taught me to see my body as a magical gift that allows me to experience the beauty of life as a human being, as my greatest ally.

Yoga has taught me to listen to my body, be authentic, and embrace imperfection. It has also provided lessons in patience, self-compassion, and resilience, helping individuals to remain present, calm their minds, and find strength from within. Ultimately, yoga had lead me to a more conscious and intentional way of living.

The Meow lounge has created a cozy space where humans and cats connect in harmony—whether you come to relax, play, or share unique experiences.

Find your inner balance surrounded by the calming presence of cats.

Come along to a unique, fun and restorative hatha yoga class with offering mindfulness meditation and cats! The class is suitable for beginners, bring your own mat and towel. The cats are free to wander around, stretch along with you, and help you relax. It starts with a short introduction followed by 60 minutes of yoga. After the class, you’re welcome to spend another hour in the cafe to relax with the cats, but a drink and mingle with other cat yoga enthusiasts.
