Don't forget the relaxing treatments...

Dare I say it, Christmas is not that far away so it's time to start thinking about gifts.

Why not treat that special someone to the gift of relaxation and wellness. These relaxing treatments are something a bit different and a real treat.

If you are not sure which one to choose then why not send an eGift card and let your loved one pick for themselves. eGift cards are available at www.kineticsmassagetherapies and can be purchased for an amount of your choice.

Intrinsic Biomechanics is how your body moves and functions from the inside. It compromises of an assessment of how your joints, muscles and nervous system work together before you introduce daily demands and exercise.

Where intrinsic biomechanics are not functioning as expected the body compensates. The downside to this is that it can lead to further compensations. A simple example; if the pelvis is out of alignment the body will compensate. this can progress into;
🔶️Recurring tightness
🔶️Recurring weakness
🔶️Muscle Imbalances
🔶️Increased risk of injury

Back to basics; The biomechanical screening aims to identify potential areas of dysfunction and correct them step by step. This builds a strong foundation to begin movement and steadily progress. This process has been widely used amongst physiotherapists, coaches and elite athletes to name a few. It has lead to a marked improvement in performance, longevity and reduced reoccurring injury.

🤔 Why does everyone look different doing a squat?

Whilst strength and technique play a big role your anatomy plays a bigger one!

➡️Pelvis shape - some pelves have deeper sockets than others which means less hip flexion. Others have a shallower socket which means more range of movement.

➡️Femur Length - Longer thigh bones means you have to lean forward more to balance. This can make those deep squats harder because you will load the back and knees more.

➡️Muscle mobility - Tight hip flexors, hamstrings or glutes mean you will have limited ability to get into a deeper squat.

➡️Ankle mobility - Limited to bend those ankles means your heel will lift or you will collapse through your upper body.

Whatever you look like, work with your body and look after it with a sports massage.

‘I felt great after my massage but then it started to feel stiff and uncomfortable again’.

Sound familiar?

On its own, massage can be a great way to alleviate discomfort, but symptoms tend to creep back a day or two later. The Sports Therapy treatment includes hands on treatment with corrective exercises and stretches to do between appointments.

How do they help? Exercises and/ or stretches help to prolong the effects of the massage They help to mobilise muscles and joints creating more balance and fluidity between them. Movement can help to reduce pain long-term

Muscular imbalances, knots, restrictions, tight spots – what ever you want to call them will continue to come back unless we get to the bottom of what is causing them.

Sports and Remedial sessions are changing.

📝From today the 'Treatment Menu' will be looking slightly different. Essentially the sport and remedial option is being split to help people make an informed decision on how in depth they would like their session to be.

For those who just require a maintenance style massage to relieve tension, improve flexibility, improve range of movement, reduce muscle soreness and promote relaxation choose ' Sports Massage'.💆‍♀️💆‍♂️

For those requiring a remedial approach for injury assessment, chronic conditions, postural correction or to improve form. Then choose 'Sports Therapy'.
These appointments include consultation, massage, pain relief modalities, taping, exercise and stretching plans. 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️🚵‍♀️🚶‍♂️🚶‍♀️

*Please note that the Sports Massage option will not include any other modalities or rehabilitation plans*

As always, if you have any questions or would like to discuss your appointment then get in touch 📲📧💻

🗓 The Therapy Room will be closed from Wednesday 19th November - Friday 21st November inclusive.

I will be attending the second workshop in London focusing on- Shoulder, knee and foot.

On completition of this workshop I will be introducing these advanced screening and treatment techniques into The Therapy Room.

This new, dynamic strategy will allow me to identify and correct small biomechanical imbalances and consider why they occur.

This exciting assessment process combined with exercises is going to help you move better, recover faster and keep you doing everything that you enjoy!

I will be completing 4 research projects so if you would like to take part in this at a fraction of the usual price then get in touch. I will be sending out emails and posters soon.

Day 2 of the Pelvis and Spine Workshop ✅️

I explored more pelvic and spinal function tests and Muscle Energy Techniques (MET's) to improvement movement in an area that may be weak or simply to improve range of movement or joint mobility.

I am excited to be bringing this screening process and exercise package to The Therapy Room and giving you more of an insight into your intrinsic biomechanics.

The next workshop - shoulders, knees and feet in February will be equally as interesting and I cannot wait!

1 week to go and I will be off to the North London School of Sports Massage to complete my first Biomechanics Coaching Workshop.

This course looks more closely at how your muscles, joints and posture works together, helping me to identify the causes of any issues.

This is going to take the current assessment strategy up to another level. Provide you with more understanding on your body mechanics and help you to move with more confidence and comfort.

I will be away from Wednesday 22nd October until Saturday 25th October so I will answer any messages when I get back.
