You don’t need to have a “big reason” to start counselling. Many of the people I work with come to therapy because something just doesn’t feel right — and they want to make sense of it in a safe, supportive space.

As a qualified, BACP-registered integrative counsellor, I support adult clients with a wide range of challenges, including:

• 🌿 Anxiety and overwhelm
• 🌿 Low self-esteem or self-doubt
• 🌿 Relationship issues
• 🌿 Trauma and difficult past experiences
• 🌿 Identity exploration — including for those with ADHD
• 🌿 Life changes, transitions, or feeling 'stuck'

Whether you're dealing with something specific or just feeling off balance, I offer a calm, non-judgmental environment where we can explore your thoughts and feelings at your pace.

My approach is holistic and trauma-informed — combining talking therapy with the option of Eco Therapy in nature or online sessions if that suits your needs better.

🕊️ You deserve to feel grounded, seen, and supported — just as you are.

📞 I offer a free 30-minute call to help you decide if I'm the right fit for you.

When choosing a counsellor, it’s natural to want to know who you’ll be working with — and what they bring to the room.

I’m a BACP-registered counsellor with a Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling and a BSc in Sociology. I’ve supported people through a wide range of challenges — in NHS settings, domestic abuse services, and corporate employee assistance programmes (EAPs).

These experiences have deepened my understanding of how life’s pressures, trauma, and transitions affect us — and how counselling can help you gently reconnect with your sense of self.

✨ I work integratively, meaning we tailor therapy to your needs — drawing on what feels most supportive for you.

If you’d like to talk about whether we’re a good fit,

Your Safety and Confidentiality Matter

One of the most important aspects of counselling is knowing that your thoughts, feelings, and experiences are held in a safe, confidential space.

Here’s what that means:
🌱 Everything you share in a session is confidential, unless there is a safeguarding concern (for example, if there is risk of serious harm to yourself or others).
🌱 Your privacy is always respected and protected.
🌱 You can speak freely, explore difficult emotions, and express yourself without fear of judgment.

Counselling is a space where you can be honest with yourself and with someone trained to listen. Safety and trust are the foundation for meaningful healing, whether through talking therapy, eco-therapy walks, or EFT sessions.

Remember: asking for help is a sign of strength. You are safe to take the first step.

Halfway through the week… how are you holding up?

Sometimes we carry more than we realise. A quick pause to notice your thoughts, emotions, and body can help lighten the load.

Tip: Place a hand on your heart, take three deep breaths, and name one thing you need right now.

The Autumn Equinox is a reminder of balance – light and dark in harmony, nature preparing to slow down and rest.

In Eco Therapy, the turning of the seasons offers us a chance to reflect on our own rhythms. Just as the trees release their leaves, we too can let go of what no longer serves us, making space for rest, healing, and growth to come.

Taking time outdoors today, even a simple walk, can bring grounding, perspective, and connection. The land teaches us balance if we pause long enough to listen.

How long does therapy take?

The answer is: it depends on you.

Some people notice meaningful changes in just a few sessions, while others prefer a longer journey of exploration and growth.

Sessions usually last around 50 minutes, typically once a week, but the pace is always guided by your goals and comfort.

Therapy isn’t about a timetable, it’s about your personal journey. Each session is a step toward understanding, clarity, and emotional wellbeing.

Remember: progress isn’t linear, and every small step counts.

Feeling nervous before your first counselling session is completely normal.

You might be wondering…
💭 What will I say?
💭 What if I get emotional?
💭 What if I don’t know where to start?

Here’s some reassurance:
🌿 You set the pace. I won’t push you to share anything before you’re ready.
🌿 It’s okay if emotions come up—we’ll make space for them safely.
🌿 Even silence has value. Sometimes sitting with your thoughts is part of the process.
🌿 Your session is your time: to talk, to reflect, or simply to breathe.

Whether we meet in the therapy room, online, or outdoors in nature, the first step is often the hardest—but it’s also the beginning of giving yourself permission to heal.

If you’re curious but unsure, I offer a free 30-minute consultation so you can get a feel for what counselling with me might be like—no pressure, just a chance to see if it feels right.

Thinking about starting counselling but not sure what to expect?

Here’s a quick look at how it works:

💬 Once you get in touch, I’ll usually reply within 48 hours. We can then arrange a short call or a first session to gently explore what you’re looking for.

🧠 I work with adults (18+) from all backgrounds, whether you're facing something specific or just feeling overwhelmed, you're welcome here.

🌿 Our first session is a chance to get to know each other, talk about what’s brought you to therapy, and see if it feels like the right fit. No pressure.

❓Not sure if counselling is for you? That’s completely okay. You’re welcome to try one session with no obligation to continue.

🕰️ I offer weekday evenings and some weekend appointments. We’ll find a time that works for you.

💷 Sessions are £55, payable by bank transfer or when booking online. If you have any questions around fees, I’m happy to chat.

🔒 Everything you share is confidential (with a few rare exceptions, which I’ll explain clearly in our first session).

📩 To book, just email me at eksa@eksapomeroy.co.uk or use the contact form on my website. I’m here when you’re ready.

What is Eco Therapy?

Sometimes, talking through things is easier when you’re moving — when your feet are on the earth, the air is fresh, and you’re not confined to a room.

That’s the essence of eco therapy.

I offer eco therapy sessions outdoors on the peaceful farm where I live, near Bradworthy on the Devon and Cornwall border. We might walk across the fields, pause by the trees, or simply sit somewhere quiet, surrounded by nature.

Being outside can reduce feelings of anxiety, support clearer thinking, and help you feel more grounded. There’s something freeing about not being indoors — especially when you’re feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or disconnected.

There’s no pressure to talk in a certain way. You set the pace. Whether we walk, sit, or just breathe for a moment — this is your space.

Muddy boots are welcome!

If eco therapy sounds like something you’d like to try, I offer a free 30-minute call to gently talk it through — no pressure, just a chance to connect.

📩 DM me or email eksa@eksapomeroy.co.uk to arrange a convenient time to chat.

It’s been a heavy week on our socials. The mental health system isn’t good enough right now, and too many of us have lost people we love.

But we’ll keep fighting to end the stigma around mental health, to push for better support and shorter waiting lists.

And we’ll be here for you - until things start to feel a bit brighter.

Thank you to Alice for this beautiful poem. If you want to read Alice’s blog about how poetry helps her mental health, the link is in the comments.
