Grangewood Care Home Our dedicated team provides high-quality residential, dementia and short-term respite care

Grangewood is a bright and welcoming care home offering gold standard residential care for older people, including those living with dementia. The purpose-built care home is set in the village of Shiney Row, close to Houghton-le-Spring in Tyne and Wear. The home has a strong community atmosphere and is close to the local village library, medical centre and various churches. There's also a post off

ice and a pub on the doorstep, and good transport links, which all helps residents to retain their independence. All of the bedrooms at Grangewood have en-suite facilities and are stylishly furnished. Your loved one is welcome to bring their own treasured possessions and items of furniture to help them to feel more at home.

A wonderful afternoon connecting and sharing 💙

Today we had the pleasure of joining our sister home, Collingwood Court, for a truly special dementia tea party ☕🍰

It was a lovely opportunity to come together, talk openly about dementia, share experiences, and most importantly—build new friendships. Seeing residents, families, and teams connecting, supporting one another, and enjoying such a welcoming atmosphere was truly heartwarming.

Moments like these remind us how important it is to create spaces where everyone feels heard, understood, and valued.

Thank you to everyone at Collingwood Court for hosting such a meaningful afternoon—we’re already looking forward to the next one! 💙

What better way to start the day than a peaceful morning stroll, just like our wonderful Eddie 🌿

With pride in every step and a smile that says it all, Eddie enjoyed some fresh air and a gentle walk to kick off his day. A true gentleman and a dedicated supporter of Sunderland A.F.C. ❤️🤍, his passion always shines through—no matter the weather!

It’s these simple, meaningful moments that bring so much joy… fresh air, friendly chats, and celebrating what makes each of our residents so special.
