Grangewood Care Home Our dedicated team provides high-quality residential, dementia and short-term respite care

Grangewood is a bright and welcoming care home offering gold standard residential care for older people, including those living with dementia. The purpose-built care home is set in the village of Shiney Row, close to Houghton-le-Spring in Tyne and Wear. The home has a strong community atmosphere and is close to the local village library, medical centre and various churches. There's also a post office and a pub on the doorstep, and good transport links, which all helps residents to retain their independence. All of the bedrooms at Grangewood have en-suite facilities and are stylishly furnished. Your loved one is welcome to bring their own treasured possessions and items of furniture to help them to feel more at home.

🌿✨ A Beautiful End to Our Day ✨🌿

We spent the rest of our day enjoying some lovely wellness walks, soaking up the fresh air and spending quality time together. 🌼🚶‍♀️

We even had a very special little visitor who was lovingly “babysat” by Kitty and June—there were plenty of smiles, laughter, and heartwarming moments shared! 🥰

To make our day even more special, we were also visited by Poppy, our therapy dog friend 🐾💛 who brought so much comfort and joy to everyone. The calming presence of animals really does have such a positive impact on wellbeing, helping to lift spirits and create beautiful connections.

Moments like these remind us how important it is to enjoy the simple things—fresh air, friendship, and a little furry companionship. 🐾✨

We are so excited to introduce something very special here at our home… our very own Duckling Day Club!

Each day, our residents come together for a lovely cuppa and a relaxed debrief, sharing stories, smiles, and special moments as we watch our little ducklings grow. 🫖💛

These gentle, joyful experiences bring so much happiness to everyone involved. Spending time with animals has such a positive impact on wellbeing—encouraging conversation, reducing anxiety, and creating meaningful connections. The laughter, the smiles, and the sense of nurturing really do brighten our days.

Our ducklings have already become part of our family, bringing comfort, companionship, and plenty of adorable moments we will cherish forever. 🐥✨

Sometimes it’s the simplest things that bring the greatest joy.
