Congratulations to Jade & Mali (and their little boys K & K) on smashing the (second, actually) quickest wedding turn around for me - 48 hours from planning meeting to ceremony.

No aisle, no chairs, no chapel. Just river, stone, and the sound of two people making promises beneath a Cornish waterfall.
They chose a waterfall, where nature could hold their vows and the wind could carry the old stories.

The world says weddings should look a certain way, but Lucy and Joshua chose ceremony over spectacle. They chose something meaningful, something created slowly, thoughtfully rooted in story and nature.

Our very own Gitte Monis has been named Celebrant of the Year at the Good Funeral Awards 2025! 🎉

The Good Funeral Awards is a national celebration of excellence and innovation in the funeral sector, recognising the individuals and teams who go above and beyond to make a difference in people’s lives at their most vulnerable moments. To be recognised in this space is a huge honour - and Gitte absolutely deserves it.

Everyone who has worked with Gitte knows how much care, thoughtfulness, and presence she brings to every ceremony. Her ability to truly listen, to create something personal and meaningful, and to support people with calm and compassion is something very special.

Festival managers have festival weddings - and that’s what Heather and Nik did 1 year ago today at a pop up campsite in Hastings.
When your friends are festival crew, they know how to make it cool. But one of the best decisions they made was to have the ceremony in a gorgeous woodland - looking this gorgeous.
- how cool is that vintage dress?

Even more cool was the entrance (swipe to see and listen), the inclusivity of children and dogs and the selfies by guests just before we started.

Finalist in The Good Funeral awards in the category ‘Funeral Officiant/Celebrant of the Year’ - eek!

Humbled and so happy that lovely clients and colleagues voted for me - and shocked to be a finalist.

Unfortunately, I won’t be able to join the awards festivities tonight, but I’m sure my mates and will be celebrating whoever wins (probably one of them!) in my absence.

Hosted by , the Association of Good Funeral Directors in Leicester tonight (just too far for me to get to after officiating a wedding on the south coast).

Seaside, vintage cinema, handfasting, disco at the Shire and a few more Tolkien references thrown in makes for a very magical wedding.

Congratulations to Archie and Stu!
… who had a very personal and filled-with-everything-they-love Humanist ceremony at cinema overlooking the sea today.

And congrats on winning my top spot for best delivery of personal vows that had everyone in tears.

We did manage to get a fair few good laughs in too!
