After a five-year break, our So You Want to Be a Doctor event is back, teaching A-Level students what it really means to pursue a career in medicine.

Hosted by our Medical Education team, 40 students from across Calderdale and Kirklees came to our Learning Centre to listen to talks from CHFT clinicians, medical students and Dr Christopher Mannion from the University of Leeds, who shared insider advice on applying to medical school.

A particular highlight for the students was the Halloween-themed edible mock injuries challenge: ‘So… do you still want to be a doctor?”

🎉 Today staff on Ward 5 had the absolute pleasure of helping our patient, Rita, celebrate a truly remarkable milestone - her 100th birthday! 🎉

Rita was given a beautiful personalised cake and the celebrations became even more memorable when she received a special 100th birthday card from Their Majesties King Charles III and Queen Camilla.

It was a joy for our team to make her day as special as possible.

Happy birthday, Rita! 🎂

🎁 Help us make Christmas special for every patient. 🎁

Our Charity has launched their 2025 Give a Gift Appeal, to make sure that every patient who won’t be at home on Christmas Day will still feel the magic of Christmas.

Last year, our fabulous communities helped raise an incredible £5,000, meaning every inpatient across our hospitals received a gift.

🎅 They are also running their popular Letter from Santa campaign again. Personalised letters for £5 with 100% of the proceeds supporting the Give a Gift Appeal.

Over the past few months, colleagues from the Medicine Division have taken on all kinds of challenges to raise money for their friend and colleague Sarah Bevan, who suffered a brain aneurysm last year.

And guess what? Their GoFundMe has now reached an amazing £15,000! This means the team have already been able to order Sarah a bespoke motorised wheelchair which will support her ongoing rehabilitation. 🎉

But the fundraising continues…
🍰 If you’re passing come along for a sweet treat at one of their bake sales:
