I'm not in burn out, I'm just tired.
I'm not in burnout, I just need a good nights sleep.
I'm not in burnout, I could just do with a bit of help now and again.

Excuses, excuses.

When do we stop doing this to ourselves?

When do we actually own that there is just too much stuff to cope with, for anyone to cope with.

Usually, this question is answered by your body. It goes into complete fight and flight mode giving you constant anxiety, sleep issues, digestive problems, cognitive complication, etc, etc.

Let's have a reset.

Had enough?

I get it.

I've been there.

You're body is tired but your mind is wired and just won't let you rest. Peace is a mythical being. Relaxation, just as illusive.

You're not broken, weird, wrong. You're emotionally exhausted, and your body is attempting to give you this information by the way of symptoms in the hope that you will do something about it.

Let's talk.

Fed up with being at the bottom of the pile for your needs?

My reflexology clients often remark that they hardly ever do something for themselves because they are just too busy helping, supporting and sorting everyone and everything else.

What happens when you crash?

Let's have a chat about how reflexology can help reset your nervous system to cope better with the challenges of a busy life.

Our minds are full of information, so many things to remember, so many tabs open at one time! It's enough to make your head explode!

Constant strain on our brains, memory and solution finding departments can lead to emotional unrest and exhaustion.

Overthinking, not sleeping, unmotivated but unable to rest become the norm.

Let's have a reset.

Today was 'Random Acts of Kindness' Day.

Who flew in with a gesture of kindness for you?
What was the act of kindness bestowed upon you?

It's pants relying on others to do this, people either forget, just don't get it or don't see the point.

My point is, that if it is important to you, it's important to me.

So, treat yourself to random act of kindness, for yourself.

Book in for a relaxing reflexology session. £40.

National Parent Mental Health Day!

It has to be the most demanding job role ever, doesn't it?

24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year, no holidays, no time off, no ongoing training (learn on the job) and no pay.

But, as all parents know, the rewards far outweigh the costs, most of the time at least!

If you've ever watched blue t**s taking care of their brood I think you have a semblance of just how relentless parenting is. Those tiny birds, literally never stop responding to the incessant demands of their off-spring.

Sound familiar?

All that said, it's a privilege to be a part of bringing up the next generation, despite all the worries, concerns, frustration and energy it brings along with it.

So, do yourself a favour today - pat yourself on the back, notice the small humans that you have created and nurture. Be grateful.

National Hug Day!

What a lovely day to have, making the focus on all that is encompassed in a simple hug.

Safety, security, belonging, nurture, communication, touch.

Touch is so important for us. It says so much that words alone just can't express.

So hug yourself, hug your pet, a tree, or someone special and enjoy the mutual benefits of hugging!

Why does January feel like it has abut 3000 days in it??

Energy is low, light is almost non-existent, spring feels like it is eons away. It's dark, cold, and decidedly unmotivating!

This level of low, niggling negativity can have a significant effect on how we manage stress, how we feel and ultimately what we do about it.

A big step forward, which requires some thought and planning, is to ensure some level of down time, rest, recuperation; something that calms the nervous system, promotes well-being and supports energy levels essential for our busy lives.
A walk in nature, taking in some restful sounds and soft light, a good book, calming food that is easily digested so relaxing our internal systems.

You owe it to yourself.

For my Friday Focus this week, let's explore what values are and how they affect what we think and do.
Values are things that are important to us, they will be things we want to give time and effort to as they 'say' a lot about us. Honesty, integrity, kindness, perseverance and family can all headline on a list of values for most people. There are, of course, many more also!
What we hold dear usually motivates us into some kind of action whether that feeding the kids a nutritious meal, meeting that work deadline (even though it's unreasonable) or using resources to support others, it all takes from us, metaphorically speaking.

In order to sustain this, we must give to ourselves from time to time.

You cannot pour from an empty cup.

Habits.

In order to build better habits we must begin with establishing which of our current ones are helpful and which are not.

It is so easy to fall into 'bad' habits isn't it? But starting new ones can feel like quite a daunting task.

Self care is a very overly used phrase and can mean many things to many people. The vastness of this topic makes it nigh on impossible to tackle in a single post however, one place to start is beginning to notice the difference between excuses and reasons for doing or not doing certain things.
