🎄 𝗔 𝗳𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝘀𝘂𝗰𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗿𝗲 𝗠𝗲𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆 🦌

This December, colleagues, residents, families and friends from across all 27 Meallmore care homes came together to do something truly special.

Through our Meallmore Reindeer Run, we collectively:

✔ 𝗥𝗮𝗶𝘀𝗲𝗱 £𝟮,𝟮𝟲𝟬 𝗳𝗼𝗿 Cash for Kids – 𝗠𝗶𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗖𝗵𝗿𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗺𝗮𝘀
✔ 𝗗𝗼𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝟮𝟱𝟬 𝗴𝗶𝗳𝘁𝘀 to support children and families across our local communities

From walking, wheeling, cycling and adapting activities, to festive costumes, creativity and teamwork, this was a challenge that everyone could be part of — and that’s what made it so powerful.

More than a fundraiser, the Reindeer Run was about:

💚🎄 A morning at Mearns House we won’t forget anytime soon 🎄💚

Things took an unexpected turn when the Grinch made a surprise appearance at Mearns House, bringing a bit of festive mischief with him.

Laughter filled the home as residents and colleagues joined in, from indoor snowball fights to Christmas music playing in the background, with plenty of smiles and giggles along the way. Room to room, the Grinch was chased, and by the end of it all, even he couldn’t help but crack a smile.

A big thank you to our brilliant colleagues for creating such a joyful, shared moment for everyone – it’s days like these that make the festive season feel extra special ❤️

The inventiveness, creativity and sheer joy behind this entry were something special. What made it even better was seeing residents and colleagues working together to bring it to life - a perfect example of what makes our homes so unique.

🎁 Prizes are now on their way in the post, but honestly, every home deserves huge recognition. The standard this year was exceptionally high; the bar has officially been raised!

🎄✨ A lovely afternoon of Christmas cheer at St Modans Care Home ✨🎄

St Modans was filled with music, laughter and festive spirit as residents and colleagues came together to celebrate the season.

Live entertainment from Andy Coutts had everyone singing along, Paul’s festive cooking was enjoyed by all, and a surprise visit from Santa and his elf brought plenty of smiles and laughter.

There was singing, dancing and lots of shared moments throughout the afternoon – the kind of celebration that brings everyone together and creates memories to hold onto.

And this is just the start… Part 1 of the St Modans Christmas celebrations 🎄

🎄🐴 Okay… nobody warned us that Christmas ponies were showing up today.

Greenan Manor Care Home stopped in its tracks when a group of Christmas ponies arrived at the door, and honestly, the smiles said everything.

Residents and colleagues gathered round, taking it all in. Quiet moments. Gentle strokes. Big reactions. The kind of visit that instantly changes the mood of the whole place.

No schedule. No rush.
Just people enjoying something unexpected together.

Safe to say, this one will be talked about for a while 🐴✨

🎄 Some days just feel like Christmas. Today was one of them at Auchtercrag House Care Home 🎅✨

The door opened… and in walked Mrs Claus and her trusty elf – and just like that, the whole home lit up. Smiles, laughter and that unmistakable festive buzz filled the room as residents and colleagues soaked up every moment.

We spent the day chatting about Christmas – favourite traditions, memories, little things that still mean the most. The answers were heartfelt, funny and genuinely moving. Proof that Christmas isn’t about the big stuff, it’s about the moments we share ❤️

And then there was Nicola… our resident Grinch 😆
Not a fan of Christmas (yet), but we’re working on her. One visit, one laugh and one bit of festive magic at a time. By the end of the season? We’re confident she’ll be converted 🎄💪

Days like this remind us why these moments matter so much. Thank you to everyone who helped make today feel truly special – the magic is very much alive at Auchtercrag ✨

⚽💛 A Day to Remember at The Rock for Alderwood House Care Home! 💛⚽

We are immensely grateful to Dumbarton F.C. for giving our residents at Alderwood House an unforgettable experience at their first live game at The Rock! 🏟️✨

A huge thank you to Owner Mario Lapointe and Chief Executive Cameron Watson, whose incredible support has opened new opportunities for our residents to connect with the local community and enjoy the thrill of football. Your commitment to inclusion and wellbeing means so much. 🙌

We also appreciate the warm welcome from Captain Mark Durnan, Facilities Director Jordan Brownlee, and Club Photographer Andy Scott, who made everyone feel part of the team. Special thanks to our colleague Cindy Henderson, Senior Support Worker, and proud Dumbarton fan Dan McLaughlin, Mental Health Support Worker, for sharing this special day with our residents. ❤️

🎄🦌 There are days that remind us exactly why community matters. This was one of them.

Our Leven Beach Care Home was absolutely buzzing during Reindeer Run week.

From the moment the doors opened, the home was filled with laughter, Christmas music, familiar faces and the kind of festive energy you can’t fake. Residents, families and colleagues all coming together, not just to celebrate the season, but to create memories that will last long after the decorations come down.

There were smiles everywhere - especially when Santa arrived. Raffles were drawn, prizes won, cakes sliced, sweets shared and conversations flowing over teas and coffees. Craft stalls, bottle bags, tombola… every corner of the home had something going on, and every part of it felt warm, welcoming and joyful.

And then there were the windows.

Thanks to Darren, a brilliant local tattoo artist, Leven Beach was transformed with a One-to-Wonderland festive window display that stopped people in their tracks and brought a little bit of magic to everyone passing by.

All of this came together during the home’s annual Christmas Fair - and the result?

💙 £1,272 raised for Resident Funds during Reindeer Run week alone, culminating in their annual Christmas Fayre, with more still to come. Every penny goes directly into resident funds, to be used throughout the year for activities, days out and the moments that make life that bit brighter.

This wasn’t just a Christmas fair.
It was a reminder of what happens when a care home becomes a true part of its community.

Huge thanks to everyone who made it so special - residents, families, colleagues and local supporters. What a way to welcome the festive season 🎄✨

We couldn’t be prouder of the Nairn Bee Intergenerational Choir, including our very own St Olaf Care Home residents featured on STV News this week 🐝💛

This special partnership with High Life Highland Leadership Programme and Mikeysline brings together young leaders, our own care home residents and nursery pupils - proving that music has no age limit and connection spans generations.

Seeing families, children and residents sharing a moment like this is exactly what intergenerational work is all about: community, confidence, joy and togetherness.

A huge thank you to everyone involved for creating something so meaningful - and for showing Scotland what’s possible when generations come together 🎶✨

Fresh off the back of the Reindeer Run (and before anyone’s fully recovered…), we’re keeping the festive momentum going with another much-loved Meallmore tradition.

After some very serious judging (and an impressive amount of self-control not to eat the evidence), we’ve narrowed this year’s Gingerbread House Competition down to four finalists.

👀 We won’t tell you who built them.
🏠 We won’t tell you where they’re from.
🎨 You’re judging purely on presentation; creativity, detail, and festive flair.

🎄✨ 𝗠𝗘𝗟𝗩𝗜𝗡 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗘𝗟𝗙: 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗙𝗔𝗥𝗘𝗪𝗘𝗟𝗟 𝗧𝗢𝗨𝗥 ✨🎄
(𝗮𝗸𝗮… 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗛𝗥-𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗱 𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘄𝗲 𝗱𝗶𝗱𝗻’𝘁 𝘀𝗲𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗴)

After disembarking the bus a little earlier than planned, Melvin decided one last round of festive chaos was essential - and Aberdeenshire was on the hit list.

He kicked things off at our brand-new Pitfodels Wood Care Home in Aberdeen, where he rummaged through the construction site, took a forklift for a joyride, and confidently bossed contractors around using floor plans he absolutely could not read.

From there, it was sleigh wheels up to Auchtercrag House Care Home in Ellon. Phones were answered (badly), the festive buffet was demolished, and the activities planner for the week was… creatively reimagined.

Next stop: Grove Care Home. Melvin joined arts and crafts, produced what he called a “Mona Lisa masterpiece,” and left covered in glitter and pride.

At Bayview Care Home, the chaos briefly paused. A moment of calm. Sea air. Reflection.
…which lasted roughly 30 seconds before he wrecked the place and hitched a ride on the back of a seagull.

That same seagull delivered him to Crimond House Care Home, where Melvin became festive paparazzi, stole a mug from the resident elf, and vanished again.

Fraserburgh was next — Kynnaird House Care Home and St Modans Care Home — where he danced with residents, pinched a tray of breakfast rolls, and had a surprisingly competitive go at Toss the Antler.

And then… it was time.

Back to HQ.
The HR meeting we all expected to be very uncomfortable.

Instead, HR delivered a curveball:
Sometimes a bit of chaos brings people together.

So Melvin’s final task?
To say goodbye to our residents, jump back in his sleigh with Santa, and help deliver the incredible number of gifts donated to Cash for Kids: Mission Christmas.

It’s been a blast.

This might not be the last you hear of Melvin…
…but for now — that’s a wrap. 🎅🦌✨

🧳 𝗗𝗔𝗬 𝟲: 𝗠𝗘𝗟𝗩𝗜𝗡 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗘𝗟𝗙 – 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗚𝗟𝗔𝗦𝗚𝗢𝗪 𝗜𝗡𝗖𝗜𝗗𝗘𝗡𝗧 🎄
(𝗮𝗸𝗮: 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝗛𝗥 𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝘀𝗻𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗲𝗱)

Just when you thought it was safe… Melvin was back on the loose 😈

He kicked things off in George Square, suitcase in hand.

Next stop? The Duke of Wellington statue, where Melvin personally ensured the cone was exactly where it belongs. Glasgow heritage protected. 🗿🛑

From there, he hopped on the Glasgow Subway (circle line = infinite chaos) and surfaced at Kelvinside Manor, where he caused some light mischief before making a swift escape.

Then things escalated.

Melvin commandeered a mobility scooter and careered his way to Antonine House Care Home in Bearsden, crashing into the front doors, “working” the night shift, rewriting care plans (badly), and dishing out unsolicited Christmas cheer like he was on commission.

Disguised as a ScotRail worker (high-vis, zero training), he made his way to Kincaid House Care Home in Greenock, rewrote the activity planner, launched into questionable dance moves, and left before anyone could stop him.

Not done yet.

He popped into Belleaire House Care Home, unwrapped presents early (criminal), performed an unsolicited carol concert, then fled the scene in a sports car because… of course he did.

At Mearns House, Newton Mearns, Melvin tried barista life (coffee everywhere), took the therapy pet for a joyride, then made a dramatic airborne escape in his toy plane ✈️

Final stop: Greenan Manor Care Home, Ayr
DIY disasters. Bubble bath. Candles. Absolute relaxation. 🛁✨

And then… 📞
THE CALL.

𝗛𝗥.
𝗣𝗮𝘂𝗹.
𝗔𝗿𝗰𝗵𝗶𝘁𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗥𝗲𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗲𝗿 𝗥𝘂𝗻.

“Melvin… this has gone on long enough.”

So now he’s on the bus back to Aberdeen, hoodie up, headphones in, sulking like a teenager who’s just lost their phone privileges.

Where will he end up next?
Honestly… even HR doesn’t know anymore.
