What I so love about these Sunday morning workshops, is the team are always highly motivated to learn and develop their performance. It’s so easy for me every week, their a pleasure to be around. We mess around now and then, a little bit of banter, but ultimately training is serious and we are there for the same reasons. To develop our Athletic Performance to make us better than we were the week before. Well it’s a simple model, to enable that to happen.
Currently the game is all about building raw strength in a dynamic and integrated fashion using isolation and complex movement. Strength is built on the bedrock of a simple principle- progressive overload. Combine that with good technique (form) and a few tricks and before you know it, well you are turning heads kids.
I’ve always had an innate eye for spotting little game changers in technique and this morning I past on a few little adjustment to peoples A game- put the egos and arrogance away, plenty of other shops out there for that nonsense, open you ears and eyes and a miracle doesn’t need to happen, it will just happen. I’ve got girls in the team that don’t realise how brilliant they are and how amazing they will become, I’ve got fellas of all ages that will eat up most 20 year olds and their journey continues full throttle.
Finally a couple of the gang today on the Olympic lifts demonstrated their ability to learn and adjust quickly and what an outcome. One lady said: ‘it’s to heavy I can’t lift it.’ You can’t lift it because the technique is not there, but it will come, keep working at it. Show me again with the things I’ve just highlighted to you. Boom….. it became 50% better in 30 seconds She could have put another 10kg on that bar and lifted it with ease.
