Maybe you are looking to get stronger but don’t know where to start…
You’ve heard the importance of lifting heavy weights but don’t have the equipment yourself…
Perhaps, for your own reasons, the gym is not the place for you…
You would like more in-depth tuition but don’t have the means for regular 1:1 sessions…
You like the idea of being part of a small community of women, training together in strength…
Maybe you are working through trauma / significant challenges and are looking for a whole-body approach to support you…

I am delighted to be offering a new “Women’s Somatic Strength & Kettlebell” class starting in the new year. My existing two classes have been such a success and I am grateful to all my students who show so much commitment, strength gains and growing confidence.

These classes are beautifully inclusive - open to all ages and experiences. There are just six or seven people in the class and we work together as a team whilst working on individual goals.

We have a lot of fun whilst paying careful attention to our technique, to ensure safe and confident lifting.

We train in my studio - a bright, welcoming and calm space.

I am a trauma-informed somatic teacher and coach; I work with folk who are dealing with significant challenges - they love how strength training supports them in responding to the holistic needs of their bodies.

Feel free to get in touch with any questions or to book your place ❤️

With love,
Lou xx

🩵 C H R O N I C P A I N and I L L N E S S 🩵

I am currently pain free and I am so grateful for that; but there have been times in my life when I have lived with chronic (and acute) illness / pain. Here are some of my personal experiences… maybe some resonate with you?

⚡️ How I live and work with chronic illness / pain, is my responsibility. Other people can support and guide me but only I can make the change towards healing.

⚡️ Chronic illness / pain doesn’t suddenly happen; it’s years of telling my body that I’ll look after myself later (that other things / people matter more than me).

⚡️ The journey towards healing is NOT about trying to ignore it or “fix it”; it’s about listening to it, getting to know it and find out what it’s trying to tell me (what’s driving it)

⚡️ Our brains are wired to find evidence of what we are thinking - if I don’t think I can make changes or don’t think I can find a way towards healing, then I likely won’t…

⚡️ Pain forces us to take action but do you know what your own unique warning signs were, before the pain?

⚡️ Chronic illness / pain is often NOT visible - it’s easy to assume that someone is ok because you can’t see evidence of it externally

⚡️ Living with chronic illness / pain can make your world feel very small and lonely because it’s hard to explain just how debilitating it is, to everyone (work, friends, family…)

What else would you add? What have been your experiences?

Much love,
Lou xx

It’s these small captured moments when I can reflect on and see how much progress my students have been making with hardstyle kettlebell training…

As a student of we focus on technique before anything else, to ensure safety and progressive loading.

Watching these guys support each other and offering tips reminds them how much they have learned and how far they have come 🩵

🩵 from PAIN to STRENGTH
This wonderful woman is a beautiful example of how you can advocate for yourself SOMATICALLY…

… by first recognising that the body isn’t happy,
… then finding out what it needs and doing something about it,
… and then continuing to listen into and give back to the body…
… so that it can now do this!

Our first few sessions together were about soothing and nourishing the body through the pain it was experiencing - very gentle movement, rest, breathwork, guided relaxation…

We were then able to investigate more yoga flow with gentle strength.

And in our most recent session, she knew she (her body) needed more; so out came the kettlebells!

I just love how she really noticed and paid attention to her whole body signals and could confidently ask for what she needed, in each session.

Namaste

My name is Lou Curry; I am a mum to two boys and a trained primary school teacher.

I started Evolve Yoga Cumbria because I want to share my passion for yoga with every ‘body’; no matter their age, religion, ethnicity, ability, sexual orientation, body shape, social background etc....

Yoga is about listening to your body and working at whatever level is right for you, on any given day - finding the balance between challenging yourself and being loving towards yourself and, connecting to the innate power and beauty of your own body and mind.

A yoga practice teaches us to mindfully move and connect with our breath, which leads us to be mindful and present in our daily tasks. It teaches us the freedom to be still and it connects us, one to another.
