“Let your first word be a breath”…. thank you - such great advice when you’re having a difficult or sensitive conversation…

Anyone who is managing trauma in their lives, will have a different experience of that trauma and so our time together will be a unique experience and one that will require a personalised approach of resources / tools that are intimate to them.

One thing that is always the same is the need to start from a place of safety, as best possible within themselves, between us and in our shared space - my studio.

And so we might wander around the room, noticing colours, lighting, pictures, objects, plants, doors and windows, colour, shape and orientation of the space etc…

We might make a cup of tea whilst we natter and only when the time feels right, do they choose if they’d like to pause / rest, and where in the room they feel comfortable to do so.

Often, I encourage that person to bring with them from home, a special object or blanket / cushion to feel a little more connected and grounded in our space - if also gives them something to hold and do with their hands ☺️

This is just the very start of our journey of working together… I’ll keep sharing a little more 🤍

Lou xx

I’ve had the first decent break (proper rest and minimal work) in a really, really long time. And I feel great because of it!

It’s given me time to reflect on the last couple of years which have seen a mix of personal challenge and joy, a small but continually growing business (which I am incredibly proud of and passionate about) and increased whole-body strength and wellbeing.

In 2025:
⚡️ I opened my own studio - offering trauma-informed somatic teaching and strength coaching
⚡️ I received my Trauma-informed Somatic Teacher and Coach certificate
⚡️ I went to my first Hyrox class (in Wales!)
⚡️I bought a house with my love
⚡️I increased my heavyweight strength training and gained some decent muscle!
⚡️ I started working on my website - at last!
⚡️ and so much more!

I am so grateful for the continued support and new connections / experiences, that I have had this year. My thanks to:

- my “all things women’s health” partner in crime and dear friend. Love ya!

- my trauma-informed somatic mentor… I wouldn’t be doing what I love without her wisdom and guidance.

- where you will find my beautiful studio, in Kendal.

- my StrongFirst coach, getting me ready for SFG2 and SFL this year. We probably laugh too much in our sessions but it feeds my soul!

- for feeding me the best lunchtime food and providing me with an office space (I’m part of the furniture!)

- for being a great gym community when I’m visiting my boyfriend in Wales. They do great Hyrox sessions too!

- to the creative soul that is Anna… thank you so much for everything you have done, and are doing, to bring my branding and website to life.

- to Sam for letting me tag along with Anthony’s PT sessions. A great laugh and very strong!

- my StrongFirst community who really do support each other; and especially for his wisdom / support

All my love to my boys and my family, dearest friends and wonderful clients / students.

And to Anthony ❤️🤍❤️

Back in the office tomorrow and excited to see what 2026 brings 🤩 ###

🤍💪🏻 N E W C L A S S 💪🏻🤍
Maybe you are looking to get stronger but don’t know where to start…
You’ve heard the importance of lifting heavy weights but don’t have the equipment yourself…
Perhaps, for your own reasons, the gym is not the place for you…
You would like more in-depth tuition but don’t have the means for regular 1:1 sessions…
You like the idea of being part of a small community of women, training together in strength…
Maybe you are working through trauma / significant challenges and are looking for a whole-body approach to support you…

I am delighted to be offering a new “Women’s Somatic Strength & Kettlebell” class starting in the new year. My existing two classes have been such a success and I am grateful to all my students who show so much commitment, strength gains and growing confidence.

These classes are beautifully inclusive - open to all ages and experiences. There are just six or seven people in the class and we work together as a team whilst working on individual goals.

We have a lot of fun whilst paying careful attention to our technique, to ensure safe and confident lifting.

We train in my studio - a bright, welcoming and calm space.

I am a trauma-informed somatic teacher and coach; I work with folk who are dealing with significant challenges - they love how strength training supports them in responding to the holistic needs of their bodies.

Feel free to get in touch with any questions or to book your place ❤️

With love,
Lou xx

Namaste

My name is Lou Curry; I am a mum to two boys and a trained primary school teacher.

I started Evolve Yoga Cumbria because I want to share my passion for yoga with every ‘body’; no matter their age, religion, ethnicity, ability, sexual orientation, body shape, social background etc....

Yoga is about listening to your body and working at whatever level is right for you, on any given day - finding the balance between challenging yourself and being loving towards yourself and, connecting to the innate power and beauty of your own body and mind.

A yoga practice teaches us to mindfully move and connect with our breath, which leads us to be mindful and present in our daily tasks. It teaches us the freedom to be still and it connects us, one to another.
