🦵 Greater Trochanteric Pain Syndrome (GTPS) 🦵
We’ve recently seen a rise in lateral hip pain—especially in walkers, runners, and desk-based workers. A common cause is GTPS - a condition affecting the outer hip where tendons and bursae near the greater trochanter become painful. It can feel like a deep ache or sharp pain on the side of the hip, often worse when lying on that side, climbing stairs, or rising from a chair.
Here are a few tips from The Physio Clinic Kendal that can help ease symptoms—especially when paired with a personalised rehabilitation plan:
1️⃣ Avoid prolonged sitting or side-lying on the affected side
2️⃣ Maintain neutral postures to reduce strain on the area
3️⃣ Modify aggravating activities—especially repetitive motions or sudden peaks in physical activity
If hip pain is slowing you down, we’re here to help. Book in for a detailed assessment and rehab plan that gets you moving comfortably again.
