I am becoming more and more aware of how sick we are becoming at the hands of the consumerist society we live in and have decided to take control of my health. The problem is the more interest we seem to pay in being 'healthy' and buying 'healthy food' the more companies seem to latch onto this fact and create themselves a new product! There is so much information floating around and unless you have a lot of time on your hands (like me) to sieve through all the information, it can be very overwhelming and confusing. It's understandable then that so many people result in feeling that with all the conflicting evidence/studies and opinions it's best that they don't believe anything! I have lost count in the number of times I have heard this or something similar "apparently we can't eat anything so I don't know what to believe anymore", "I will just eat what I want". This attitude is great for the companies that rely on us being sick so they can 'cure' us! It means the more simple and easy they make it sound, the more likely we are to go for it and more money and success for them! Instead of growing your own fruit and vegetables, washing them, preparing them and then eating them... Just pop a pill! If I asked you if you would rather live a long, painful life, full of diseases or…. A long happy, healthy life, full of energy what would you choose? Easy answer?… Well, maybe there is an easy solution. The only obstacle:

I hope that is simple enough! Whatever you spend your time doing, it is time to stop and think, question everything! Not just for ourselves but for our families too. I truly believe that if we really knew about food and remembered that it’s primary purpose is to fuel our bodies, provide us with the nutrients we need, what we eat would change dramatically. I also believe that if we understand the power of sugar and how addictive it is we wouldn’t be so quick to feed it to our children and call it a ‘treat’ in the same way we wouldn’t give our children a glass of wine! Often we don’t know why we ‘want’ something and again don’t question it. Did anyone ever see the Halloween videos going round of children and their reactions to their parents hiding their candy? The videos are funny and entertaining but psychologically when you really think about it, they are reacting in the same way any addict would act if you were to hide their drugs. Stop and think...

Maybe, just maybe, what we are being told is not the whole truth. Maybe, just maybe, it is for their gain as a company, as a business, not for ours. Something else to think about...

The main thing that has changed over these years has been our diet! It can be argued then that the reason for these relatively new diseases wiping us out is due to our diet. If our diet could be similar to that in the 1900s could our main health concerns then be Pneumonia, Influenza, Tuberculosis, Diarrhea & Enteritis once again? If so this time round we are a lot more prepared to deal with them! What would our main causes of death be then? Wouldn’t that be nice!…. Well for us anyway, for all the companies that earn a living from making us sick… Not so much! But don’t get me started on that! Below you will find 15 RAW food recipes, please feel free to pick and choose for your dinner and alternate weekly.

I have already adjusted the amounts for 1 - 2 servings, the link directs you to the method.

There is an option to do JUST juices, if you decide to do this, double up on your morning juice and lunch smoothie instead of your RAW food dinner.

A spiralizer is recommended for many of these recipes but you can do without 🙏🏽

💚 RAW VEGAN LASAGNE 💚

500 g/18 oz courgette
1 tbsp pine nuts
1 tbsp poppy seeds

FOR THE CASHEW-ALMOND LAYER

1/2 cup of soaked cashews
1/2 cup of soaked, blanched almonds
1/2 lemon, juice
2 tbsp nutritional yeast
Salt, pepper

FOR THE PESTO LAYER

1 avocado
2 cups of tightly packed herbs or greens (such as basil, spinach, arugula, etc)
1 clove of garlic
1 tbsp nutritional yeast
1/2 lemon, juice
Salt, pepper

FOR THE TOMATO LAYER

1/2 cup of chopped sun-dried tomatoes
1 cup of halved cherry tomatoes
Handful of fresh basil

2 large carrots

1 cucumber

2 medium cucumbers
1 small bunch bok choy

1 carrot cut in 2 inch chunks
1 parsnip, peeled and cut in 2 inch chunks
1/2 medium cauliflower, cut in pieces
1 cup mushrooms, trimmed
1 cup snow peas, sliced into 1/2-inch pieces
1 cup mung bean sprouts
3 scallions, sliced, white part only
1/4 red bell pepper, diced

Tamari Orange Sauce

1/4 cup low sodium tamari
1/4 cup maple syrup
1/4 cup fresh squeezed orange juice

💚 TURKISH SALAD 💚

1 lb cucumbers, diced
Handful of spinach diced
1 lb fresh ripe tomatoes diced
1/3 cup minced onion (optional)
1/2 cup minced fresh parsley
3 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
3 tbsp fresh lemon juice
2 tbsp pomegranate juice
Salt to taste (I use about 1/2 tsp)

Method: Dice everything and mx together

💚 GAXPACHO SOUP 💚

1 cucumber, sliced into chunks
4 large ripe tomatoes, coarsely chopped
1/2 bell pepper (any color)
2 cloves garlic
1 celery rib, chopped
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1/2 sweet onion, quartered
3 tablespoon red wine vinegar (or balsamic vinegar)
1/2 teaspoon salt
freshly cracked black pepper
1 teaspoon fresh parsley, chopped
1 teaspoon fresh basil, chopped
Optional: olive oil for garnish, additional herbs for garnish

💚 TACOS WITH SWEET CORN SALSA & SOUR CREAM 💚

sweet corn ceviche salsa ingredients:


2 cobs of corn, kernels removed
juice of 1-2 limes
salt and pepper
1/4 cup diced red onion
1/2 pint grape tomatoes, quartered
small handful chopped cilantro

spicy nut + seed crumble ingredients:

1 heaped cup of mixed, raw nuts + seeds (I used walnuts, almonds + sunflower seeds)
sea salt + pepper
1 tablespoon taco seasoning
1 teaspoon avocado oil
1 teaspoon coconut aminos

cashew sour cream ingredients:

3/4 cup raw cashews, soaked for 3 hours or more
juice of 1/2 a lemon
tiny splash of apple cider vinegar
fat pinch of sea salt
2-3 tbsp of filtered water
