Johnnys Happy Place A welcoming weekend cafe. Everyone welcome. Keystone, 97 Rockingham Rd Kettering. Free tea and coffee We are open 10-2 on Saturdays and 11-2 on Sundays.

After the death of a much loved man on 23rd October 2014, his family and friends set up Johnny's Happy Place. There are many people out there who, for one reason or another, through circumstance, are having a tough time. They might have anxiety issues, depression or just feel isolated. What we have done, with the help of some wonderful people, is created a beautiful cafe space as our base. Hot food served 11.30-1.30. We would like to help those suffering with their mental health in and around Northamptonshire. The cafe space is run by volunteers and everything on offer is £1 with tea and coffee being free of charge. We are simply a safe and welcoming space, where people can come and sit for a couple of hours and read a book, have some homemade food, meet new people and hopefully smile and maybe have a laugh. There isn't much available at weekends for those suffering with mental health problems and this is why we are just open at weekends. We have a free art workshop every Saturday 12-2 and Creative Writing on a Sunday 12.45-2. These are free but you do need to sign up. We also have a drop in counsellor between 12-2 for you to see for free, should you need to talk. Don't be afraid to come on your own! A lot of people do come on their own but aren't on their own for long if they want company

We will be open on Saturdays 10-2pm and Sunday 11-2pm at Keystone, 97 Rockingham Road, Kettering, NN16 9HX. Please visit our website for more information.

Need some tech support??

Drop in to JHP this Sunday between 11-1 and bring any questions or problems you have around computers, phones, and tablets. No problem is too small, no question too silly, all are welcome with all kinds of inquiries!

Drew is a software engineer and works with tech and computers. They have 5 years of experience in software engineering. They are running the London Marathon this year for JHP and wanted to help in any way they could!

*Note they can solve problems on the screen, not inside the computer’s internal wiring.

Who’s your Kettering Community Hero? 🦸

Kettering fam, we’re working on an exciting new art project for the town centre and need your help tracking down the people who are really making a difference in our communities, so we can suitably celebrate them and all that they do.

If you know someone who makes our town a better place to live but doesn’t get the recognition they deserve, we’d love to hear about them! Comment below with your nominations and a short explanation of why you’d like to put them forward and we’ll investigate.

If you’d prefer to nominate anonymously, you can email us: info@lovekettering.co.uk

We know there are so many amazing people working to make our town a better place to live. Let’s give them the recognition they deserve.

In December, two lovely folk from ACE (Autistic Children Embraced) charity shop donated a whopping £10k to JHP as their charity shop was closing. Jenny from ACE said that the charity had spent decades offering help, support, information and friendship to make life easier for families of autistic children. When thinking of who could benefit from this money they wanted to look at organisations supporting adults, now these people are no longer children and they chose us. Thank you Jenny for your support.

HUGE appreciation post!

Our volunteers are the best! Thank you to everyone who helped, packed, served, cooked, greeted, organised, cleared away and washed up. 120 people were served free Christmas lunches this weekend. Thank you for your unrelenting compassion and good cheer.

Thank you to Craig and Juliette as ever for the ridiculous amount of gorgeous food you prepare for us each Christmas, we are eternally grateful.

Thank you also to those that popped donations in our pot.

The biggest cheer of course goes to Denise. This weekend always takes a huge amount of organising from her. It's a lot for an old bird and it really does take its toll on her. But she's forever honouring Johnny. Thank you to those that bought her gifts and gave her a big cheer/applause. It doesn't go unnoticed.

Thanks again to everyone who made it a successful weekend. Merry Christmas 🎄

It's our Free Community Christmas lunch this weekend so the cafe will only be open 10-11 for food share on Saturday. Other than that we're only open to those who booked a place for lunch Saturday or Sunday. This was only advertised at the cafe so regulars could book a place. Thank you in advance 🧡🎄

Spain just cracked the code on what to do with dying factories. Old industrial buildings that once churned out products are now churning out community. Imagine sleeping under 20-foot ceilings where machinery used to roar, sharing breakfast with a digital nomad from Berlin, and trading your skills for rent. This isn't some luxury co-living trend for the wealthy. This is radical recycling at its finest, where forgotten spaces become lifelines for students, artists, and people rebuilding their lives.
