I became a doctor to combine my head
and my heart in helping people.
As I trained to become a Consultant
Physician in the UK’s NHS, I gratefully saw
the incredible help that modern medicine
so often brings. But I soon realised that the
predicament of the world-wide rise of poor
health linked to our modern ways of living
could only be buffered but not ‘fixed’ by
medical treatments.
So, over the forty plus years of my career, I
focussed my work and research on finding
better ways of helping this predicament.
This led me to explore the innate
capacities in us all for healing and
flourishing, and how this can be enhanced.
I have been fortunate to share my learning
on human caring, healing and nurture in
around 30 countries, through a learning
experience called TheWEL: Wellness
Enhancement Learning.
Some of my previous roles have included:
- Principle International Consultant to
the Osher Medical Centre, Harvard
University, USA.
- National Clinical Lead for Integrative
Care for the Scottish Government
Now, I want to share with you what I have
learned about how to flourish in the face of
our health-limiting crises of mental,
physical, emotional, spiritual and
environmental wellbeing.
I hope we can work together to create a
culture of wellness and unlock the full
potential of our lives.
