Angela McCormack Civil Celebrant I’d like to leave an afterglow of smiles, when life is done” - Helen Lowrie Marshall

Today is a particularly heart wrenching day as I head off to take the service of a really lovely lady who I had the privilege of meeting just a few weeks ago. The heartbreaking part is this is the 4th funeral for this family in 2 years!
It’s easy to forge a close bond with certain families, especially when you spend so much time with them and when they’re going through a trauma or difficult time.

It will be a true honour, albeit an emotional one, to be part of this lady’s day today 🌹

As the festive period fast approaches I’d like to offer heartfelt hugs and consolation to families past and present who are missing their loved ones at this time of year. I hope that memories of past happy Christmases can bring warmth to you all.
I’d also like to wish all funeral staff a Merry Christmas, and big thanks and love to Peter and my family for your constant support over the past year. This is a very rewarding and humbling role but can be emotional and challenging at times too, and my family are always there to keep me smiling 💕

We’re entering that time of year when there’s mixed feelings all around. For many it’s a joyous time, full of excitement to spend time with friends and family, a perfect excuse for get togethers, nice food and drinks, chatter and merriment. Bur for some it’s a raw, bittersweet time of year as we think of our lost loved ones, and wish so much that they’re going to be sitting at that empty chair at the dinner table, or playing the games and exchanging gifts.

I find December a month when, to be honest, my emotions are all over the place-working hard to support the families who have recently lost, while also wondering what Xmas would be like with my lost family members here, while also getting very excited about upcoming festivities!! I’ve always loved Christmas but I also know how hard it can be too.

Where is time going? October disappeared in a blur of lots of services, family birthday celebrations and a trip away with Jenna. And while November has been a month of recharging a little, Christmas preparations and lots of baking, it’s still flown by and now it’s time for another wee break as we visit family in the Netherlands. Another wee rest before the busy months ahead. However, the birthday celebrations don’t stop in October because my dad has a big birthday to mark when we get back from our holiday!

Family time is so precious and special, and Peter and I are so thankful that we have such great, loving families who we love spending time with ❤️

It’s a wee while since I posted on this page, it’s been a busy time but I also managed a couple of days off to recharge and enjoy a break away in the caravan.

It’s always an honour to look after families in their time of grief and sorrow, to be there to help them create a service for their loved one. And it’s an even bigger honour when asked by a very good friend to be part of their loved one’s day.

This brings with it a different kind of emotion, having known the ones who have passed, but also an immensely humbling feeling.

My gentleman today WAS a true gentleman and the turnout was a testimony to how well thought of he was.
And his family all did him proud.
Sleep soundly Mr W. 💜💜

My thoughts are with those who aren’t able to wish their dad’s a Happy Father’s Day but I know these special men will still be remembered and thought about today 💙💙

After a quiet spell, then a busy two days saying goodbye to three very much loved special husbands and dads at Kirkcaldy Crematorium, plus two family visits and the writing of a tribute for an amazing young lad who brightened up many people’s lives with his humour, generosity and enthusiasm, it’s almost time for us to take a trip to attend a family wedding in Peter’s home country of the Netherlands.
It’s lovely to have these special occasions to look forward to as they are distraction from the emotional side of my role as celebrant, especially when the week has involved two young people.
Time to recharge, decompress, get all dressed up and have some family time celebrating a wonderful couple’s special day

This is a massive appreciation post 🌻💞
Being a celebrant, you can often feel like you’re flying solo because you don’t have staff and it’s hard to form friendships when you spend so little time with funeral staff. Usually it’s a quick hello, how are you? When you cross paths at a service.
Having taken unwell out of the blue recently, I’m overwhelmed by the support from all of my work friends-The heartfelt messages of concern, and the help I’ve received to cover the funerals I simply could not attend.
As for the families who are going through one of the worst days of their lives have been so understanding and supportive.

It’s easy to dwell on those who do you wrong in life, but these good, kind, caring people way surpass those.
And my family have been great at looking after me too. I feel truly blessed.
(And this isn’t the diazepam talking, I promise!)

Thank you everyone 💕

Today’s a day to celebrate all of the special ladies out there-mum’s, mother-in-laws, step-mums, adopted mums and the gran’s too. But it’s also a day to remember those special ladies who are no longer with us, and sympathise with their families who will have their own thoughts and memories today 💝💝

I’m celebrating my mum today who is one in a million. The most thoughtful, caring person who always thinks about everyone and is always there for us. And she’s an amazing Nannie to the kids too. 💕💕

Time’s going by so quickly that I forgot to acknowledge my 4 year mark. It’s been a humbling 4 years, looking after so many bereaved families, forming special bonds and learning about loved one’s lives. This isn’t a job, it’s a way of life and I wake up every day, looking forward to what the day is going to bring.
I have met lots of lovely people, whether it be bereaved families, their family and friends who I meet on the day of the service, and of course all funeral staff, many who I regard as friends.
It really is a rewarding, interesting role which I see myself fulfilling for many more years to come.
Thank you for reading 🥰

It’s a varied day today and a day that requires A LOT of “stuff”-
Crematorium service: tribute/water
Service at McDiarmid Park:tribute/water/phone for music/speaker/microphone
Interment at cemetery:as above but with cozy coat, gloves and boots
Packed lunch for in between-sandwich, choccie biscuit and flask of coffee
Family visit: booking form and paper

BUT….have I forgotten anything?? 🧐 let’s hope not!

And the sun is shining in Perth so far for those we are bidding a fond farewell to 💙🧡
