The Adventure Element switches off for Christmas on Friday, and while there has been no rest for the wicked as we gear up for 2026, we have had time to reflect and celebrate the successes and memories of the year... we believe it's what Spotify refers to as 'Wrapped'!

2418 participants joined us this year, that is a lot of miles covered by participants who worked hard to fundraise, train, and show up in so many ways.

£1,551629.03 raised for charities that truly make a world of difference. We have loved working with our friends in the charity sector to help raise funds and awareness.

You can't put a number on the priceless memories made, nor the invaluable awareness spread for charities that are working incredibly hard to survive the turbulent economy and continue supporting those who need their help.

We are incredibly grateful for everyone who chose to challenge themselves on one of our events and for the extraordinary charity teams we have the utmost pleasure to work alongside in making the magic happen. All made possible by the hard work of our fantastic staff team, behind the scenes and out in the field. It's a beautiful thing! And truly reminds us why we love what we do.

Winter doesn’t need to slow your training down, although we admit the weather can definitely be a deterrent! You can make some small adjustments to help keep you moving through December and give yourself some time between the festive chaos. Why not try the '20-Minute Rule'?

Commit to just 20 minutes of movement a day. It keeps consistency, reduces any pressure, and helps maintain your fitness through this busy time in a manageable way.

Every short session adds up, and maintaining your strength in the months when cold and illness are rife is more important than ever.

Are snacks the secret to success?

Of course, there are numerous elements that contribute to a successful expedition. However, it's pretty likely that you and your teammates will perk up after elevenses or that much-anticipated chocolate bar. Boosting morale, energy levels, and enthusiasm makes for a much more pleasurable next leg of the journey and is an important action to remember!

* Try fuelling up regularly rather than waiting for hunger to strike.
* Choosing snacks that are slow-release helps keep you satisfied for longer and keeps you moving more efficiently.
* Have a loose plan of what snacks you will have for each day of your expedition. This helps ensure you have packed sufficient snacks and makes sure you eke out your snack supply.

What other snack rules do you follow for a successful expedition?

It is always a great feeling when you have staffed the majority of events for next year already, especially when the team is made up of longstanding staff who return for every event they can.

There are a huge number of benefits to having such a loyal and wonderful task force:
- The team can carry out their work with solid experience and confidence, allowing events to run like clockwork
- The team gets to know our participants and recognises opportunities to go the extra mile
- There is a community feel to our events, with the team enjoying catching up with fellow staff, and this adds to the overall atmosphere of event days

If you have joined us for more than one event over the years, you are bound to spot familiar faces!

Those warm summer rides seem like a lifetime ago! This is a snapshot from this year's Bikes Boats Boots challenge in aid of Eden Valley Hospice...

However, we are fast approaching the Winter Solstice (21st December), where those precious daylight hours will start growing once more.

For those looking to join next year's Bikes Boats Boots, a date has been set! With the event taking place in May, you will have plenty of time to get the sun on your back and the wheels spinning before the big day.

This summer, we had a fantastic team of fundraisers join us on the Jurassic Coast to raise awareness and funds for Myeloma UK.

Each year in the UK, approximately 6,200 people are diagnosed with myeloma: a scary statistic indeed. And an incredibly worthy motivation for the fundraisers who turned up to the rugged and undulating coastline, ready to bag the miles.

Chris from The Adventure Element team led the way, as this was his 'home turf', and the team trekked and trekked the many miles to the finish. Over clifftops that expose 185 million years of Earth's history and parallel to the gorgeous south coast, our team were spoilt with vistas the whole way. Chris said it was satisfying to see the blobs of orange t-shirts in the distance as they neared their goal.

In 2026, Myeloma UK fundraisers are returning for another challenge, and we cannot wait to share snapshots of where next year's challenge location will be! For now, I think we will focus on fuelling up ready for future adventures...

A throwback to the last DofE expedition of the year and what a finale.

The DofE participants from Gresham's School acted phenomenally as a team, working to each other's strengths and providing tight-knit morale whilst enduring the many weather conditions that Scotland can deliver!

It truly was a pleasure to witness their determination and enthusiasm. And their efforts were even rewarded with blue skies!

As the days are drawing in and temperatures are changing, it feels like a good time to reshare our blog around layering for warmth!

Layering is one of the most effective ways to stay warm in cold weather, but it can take time to learn what works best for you.

Common mistakes people make include;
- Setting off wearing too many layers and getting too hot
- Not putting their layers on soon enough when the temperature starts to drop, and losing their body heat
- Not changing out of their wet kit quick enough

Check out our blog that helps prepare our DofE participants on layering on their expedition
