Sarah Edney Speech and Language Therapy Ltd.

Sarah Edney Speech and Language Therapy Ltd. I’m a HCPC-registered speech & language therapist with expertise in feeding and early communication. Hello, I'm Sarah - thanks for taking a look at my page!

Do you need help with your child's feeding or early speech and language development? I’m a HCPC-registered speech and language therapist with 20 years post-qualification experience. I have particular expertise in early intervention, including language development and feeding and swallowing difficulties in babies and young children with complex issues (e.g. neonatal brain injury, cerebral palsy, prematurity, autism spectrum condition). I also have extensive training in breastfeeding and lactation, although I am not a Lactation Consultant (I can recommend local IBCLC services if needed). I offer a free initial discussion regarding your needs and the options available to you. Assessment and therapy sessions are available through home visits and video call. As well as working in clinical practice, I am also a researcher - I absolutely love generating new knowledge to improve patient care! Interested to know what my research is about? Find out more here:

šŸ“¢ Speaker announcement!

We're thrilled that Sarah Edney will be joining us at our first H.I.E. Conference next May.

Sarah is a speech and language therapist and researcher specialising in neonatology and infant feeding disorders. Her work focuses on promoting and enhancing neurorehabilitation following neonatal brain injury, with a particular interest in improving feeding therapy provision and outcomes for infants affected by H.I.E.

For her PhD studies, Sarah recently completed a series of research projects exploring ways to improve feeding outcomes for families affected by H.I.E., working closely with many families from the Peeps community. She is looking forward to sharing and discussing her findings with us, and to applying these valuable insights in her new role establishing the first neonatal speech and language therapy service at the Liverpool Neonatal Partnership.

We hope you'll be there too!

Tickets are available online https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/1434277846649?aff=oddtdtcreator or by emailing info@peeps-hie.org

'More' is a popular first sign with many young children and early communicators. It can be used in a variety of situations to communicate for things your child enjoys - more milk, more biscuit, more cuddles, more swing, etc. 😃

If you are thinking about introducing your early communicator to signs but are not sure how to get started, please get in touch!

Exciting news! It's been a long time in the making but Liverpool Neonatal Partnership will finally have a speech and language therapy service in March 2026, led by me 🄳

By a lovely coincidence, my 7 year old just rediscovered the neonatal play set in his toy box. He says "Everyone is sleeping in the doctors area, except *this guy* (the doctor) because he never gets to sleep, but he's sleeping now because his boss (the nurse) is asleep so nobody will know." Except the nurse just woke up, shouted at the doctor and power-punched him out of the room. And now the star monsters have teleported into the neonatal unit. And from here I confess to having lost the thread of the plot, but sounds like a very exciting day at work šŸ˜‚
