Digging a hole, taking out a rotten fence post and putting in a new post is like therapy why?

Because in therapy we dig beneath the cover stones, the w**d liner membrane, the soil, the old concrete to get to the root cause of the issues.

We explore the foundations while we are down there to see what else lasts beneath before we go about the healing process. In this case finding a new post, concreting it in and letting it set so it can take the weight of a new gate. In therapy the healing process can take alittle longer than the quick drying cement I'm using today but like the new gate post it is possible to heal. But also like this DIY job you have to put the work in both in therapy sessions and between sessions to yield results. You can do it.

Therapy is alot like this pony tail I'm growing. You may remember awhile back at the start of the pony tail journey, by the time I tied it up it almost disappeared and was hard to see the work I put in growing it. Now abit further along on the journey and can see the progress, now I tie it up and can still see it, it's alot longer.

Therapy is a similar process, you start out alittle timid, not sure if it's going to work for you, comparing to others experience trying to figure out your own path and if it's working for you personally. Then alittle but further down the road and you've figured out all the self doubt wasn't necessary because you can do it, your doing it and you will continue to do it even beyond your time in therapy. One foot in front of the other to a new you. Reach out to discuss your needs

Some of the horsey colleagues who have influenced me and my practice over the years........ couldn't share them all as there is a ten picture limit but shout out to the ones featured here......Ed at athena herd, Bess at Pocklington and Hope at Tockworth........ amazing horses, amazing therapy team members.....alot learned.........for anyone interested in therapy with horses I training or sessions cannot recommend either enough. Find yourself a practitioner you'd like to work with or a center you'd like to train at and get started, you'll learn so much about yourself on either journey.

Quick trip to the Viking festival in Jorvik today on my day off and I spy with my Viking eye something begining with M..............ya you guessed it Mead.......why does it say Traditional? Because it's not flavoured or one of the other flavoured meads they do. They do elderflower, cherry, ginger and raspberry so this is to differentiate that this is the original flavour of mead.

So if you have a day off and you are close to York have a look at the Viking festival. It's alittle more spread out this year than usual so you may need a map from tourist information to find things but they still have the pottery wheel, the fighting displays, mead and more to look at.

Whatever you get up to on your day off have a great time..........skål

Always Another Way to do things, demonstrated here by using a car jack to jack up a motorbike that does not have a main stand only a side stand. No paddock stand either.
The job? Chain cleaning, lubing and tightening. By using a car jack on the opposite side of the side stand, jacked up enough to turn the rear wheel it's possible to get the job done without the need for paddock stands or a main stand.
This is both essential and regular maintenance for a motorbike. You could say it's a motorbikes self care regime.
This brings me to integrative therapy...........therapy can be part of your self care regime. Integrative therapy can offer you another way of doing things and can adapt to your needs as you grow in the therapy space.
Integrative therapy allows for change to meet your needs and can be done in many ways but as demonstrated in the picture above there is usually a tool or an intervention or a model or approach or skill that can get the job done and meet your therapy needs and goals.

Reach out to discuss your needs, I look forward to meeting you,

Warmest regards,

The Viking Therapist

There's always another way of doing something as seen here by painting on a red L on the front forks of motorbike because the sticky tape and hard plastic L tags were not working for me.

This is exactly what integrative therapy is all about, figuring out what works for you and combining elements of different therapy models in a best fit approach for the client to explore what they want to and experience healing.

If you would like to explore what is happening for you and your mental health reach out to The Viking Therapist to discuss your needs. Let me tailor my approach to your needs.

Went to see this at Leeds Royal Armouries today......weighs 3 tonnes, made from 100,000 knives seized by police all over the UK and took 2 years to make. The majority of the knives used here are kitchen knives, which may speak to the availability and ease of getting these over any other. Seeing it in sculpture form is certainly a more thought provoking way of engaging in the subject with people for sure. A picture do s not do it justice it has to be seen to be believed so if your in the area it's free to see and is in town till end of February before goes on tour to other cities around the country.

If you have been effected by trauma in your life around knife crime or anything else and want to explore what's going on for you, reach out to discuss your needs.

BOOK RECOMMENDATION: Another book recommendation today, I'm willing to concede this one may be for the sci fi fans amongst you than non sci fi fans. However I'm all about creative ways to get people engaged with the therapy process, even if that means taking things that wouldn't normally be therapy and working them into the therapy space in order to engage the client. So if your looking for entry level guide to mindfulness and find the subject quite dry ordinarily but are a sci fi fan then this might be the one for you.

Simply put it is a wise character from the star wars stories sharing mindfulness tips with a sci fi theme.

I personally feel it's a great way of engaging with the subject of mindfulness and also adds images to a concept that is ordinarily experiential in nature but equally not always quite so visual.

If your interested in Mindfulness and a sci fi fan I can recommend this one to have on your shelf. If your not a sci fi fan it still has something to offer as it does connect with Mindfulness in a slightly different way. Can be found most places online and for around £5 well worth it.

Mindfulness is especially helpful for anxiety, trauma, stress to name a few but your overall mental health will also benefit from mindfulness so might be worth a look.
