‼️SORRY TO SAY THIS IS NOW POSTPONED πŸ’” keep your eyes peeled for updates! ‼️

🌟 Join Us for the Starlight Walk – In Memory, In Hope 🌟

On October 25th, we’ll be taking part in the Starlight Walk in support of Sands, the charity dedicated to stillbirth and neonatal death.

This walk is especially meaningful as it takes place during Baby Loss Awareness Month β€” a time to come together, reflect, and honour all the babies who are no longer with us.

πŸ’› Whether you’ve been personally affected or simply want to show your support, we’d love for you to walk with us, remember with us, and raise vital funds for families who need it most.

πŸ“ Date: Saturday, October 25th
πŸ“ Location: The Royalty - York Gate, Otley LS21 3DG
πŸ“ Time: 7pm
πŸ‘Ÿ Gentle walk – all ages welcome

A Β£10 entry fee per person will go directly to Sands - let's raise as much as we can! Or donate what you can πŸ’“

Bring your friends!
Bring your torches!
Bring your pooches!

Let’s light up the night together. πŸ’«

Want to join me in supporting a good cause? I’m organising a Starlight Walk for Sands to remember all the babies gone too soon. Every day 13 babies die before, during or shortly after birth. I would love your support. Whether you walk with me or donate Β£5 or Β£500, every little bit helps.

πŸ©΅πŸ’™ Our Memory Tree πŸ©΅πŸ’™

This year, we’d love you to join us in a simple act of remembrance. At Wormalds Funeral Service, we’ve created a Memory Tree where you can add the names of your loved ones – a beautiful way to keep their memory shining bright. 🌿✨

If you can pop in, please come and place their name on our tree. And if you can’t make it down, just let us know and we’ll gladly add it for you.

Together, we can fill our tree with love, memories, and the people who mean the most to us. πŸ’•

October is National Book Month

A perfect time to reflect, heal, and grow through the power of words.

Whether you're moving through grief, navigating tough emotions, or simply learning to care for yourself better, books can be incredible companions on the journey. Here are some fiction and non-fiction reads that speak to loss, healing, and the importance of self-care:

πŸ’” FICTION – Stories of Grief & Healing
✨ The Midnight Library by Matt Haig – A powerful reminder that life is full of possibilities, even in our darkest hours.
✨ A Man Called Ove by Fredrik Backman – A story of love, loss, and unexpected connections that heal old wounds.
✨ The Book Thief by Markus Zusak – A poignant tale set during WWII, told through the eyes of Death itself.
✨ Where the Crawdads Sing by Delia Owens – Loneliness, resilience, and the human need for connection.

πŸ“– NON-FICTION – Tools for Coping & Self-Care
🧠 The Year of Magical Thinking by Joan Didion – A raw and moving memoir about the sudden loss of her husband.
πŸ§˜β€β™€οΈ Self-Compassion by Kristin Neff – Learn how to treat yourself with the same kindness you'd offer a friend.
πŸ’¬ It’s OK That You’re Not OK by Megan Devine – Honest advice about navigating grief in a world that doesn't always understand it.
🌱 Burnout: The Secret to Unlocking the Stress Cycle by Emily and Amelia Nagoski – Especially great for women managing emotional overload.

This month, let's celebrate the books that help us heal and the authors who put words to what we sometimes can’t say ourselves. πŸ’™

πŸ“– What books have helped you through difficult times? We’d love to hear your recommendations too.

🧢 Calling Local Knitters – Your Skills Can Bring Comfort 🧢

We're working on a heartfelt project to create blankets and memory hearts that can be placed with loved ones in their coffins – a small gesture of love, warmth, and remembrance. πŸ’Œ

If you’re a knitter (or crocheter!) and would like to contribute your time and talent, we'd love to connect.

Whether you can make one item or many, every stitch matters.

Please comment below if you're interested in helping.

We'd love to arrange a Knit & Natter - tea, coffee and cake provided! 🍰πŸͺπŸ«–β˜•

Let’s bring a little comfort to grieving families, one stitch at a time.
