Everyone loves a games afternoon....
The residents thoroughly enjoyed their involvement this afternoon, participating in activities such as Jenga, card games, boules, and our new game, curling, which was very well received. It was a delightful afternoon filled with smiles, socializing, conversations, and cheerful moments.

Fantastic morning with everyone on top form
This morning's exercise and movement to music session was filled with activity, laughter, singing, dancing, and stretching. It brings us immense joy to see our residents smiling and actively participating in the activities we offer. When one person finds happiness, it tends to spread to everyone, and a touch of silliness can truly uplift the mood. We believe that life is too short to be overly serious, and we truly cherish fun and laughter here at the Manor.

It was a delightful day spent shopping in Guiseley today.

Everyone enjoyed browsing the humorous Christmas gifts available at HomeSense, as well as the beautiful dining sets and charming Christmas ornaments. We then proceeded to McDonald's, as Sylvia had often expressed a desire to visit, and it was thoroughly enjoyed. After our meal, we returned to the shops, where some residents tried on lovely Christmas jumpers, with a few making purchases for themselves.

As always, Mark, it was an absolute pleasure, and we are incredibly grateful for your assistance, which allows us to get out and about with such ease. You are truly cherished by our residents, who consistently speak highly of you.

Our new resident Margaret enjoyed us all singing happy birthday to her in McDonalds too 😂🥰🎂

Today was our highly anticipated monthly "chaos day," a day when the Manor is filled with the joyful presence of children, who, perhaps unknowingly, bring immense brightness to our residents' day.

We were delighted to welcome Cliffe House Day Nursery to the Manor for the very first time. They enjoyed an hour of engaging activities with Danni and Erika from Little Movers Leeds West, alongside our dedicated staff and residents. The event was incredibly popular, with a full house that even required us to bring in extra seating.

I was unable to capture many photographs today, as the nursery understandably preferred that the children not be featured in photos. We always ensure to confirm this at the outset. To accommodate this, I utilized their iPad to take all the pictures, carefully avoiding any residents who prefer not to be on social media. The nursery will be emailing these photos to me, and I will then be able to share them.

Thank you again Dannii Marie for a wonderful afternoon ❤️

Just a polite reminder that the last day to book onto the Cocktail & Canapes event is a week on Friday, 21st Nov.
We have the amazing Stevie Fields in singing for us. This is the same same gentleman who entertained us at the Cocktails around the Fountain, Jazz event in the summer...so we are looking forward to this :)
Don't be afraid to wear your sparkles 🥳

A two-minute silence was held across the UK, including in the Manor at 11:00am this morning to commemorate the exact time an agreement to end the fighting in World War One came about on 11 November 1918.
This afternoon residents gathered together in the bar and reminisced about the War, ration books, air raid shelters etc and how much time has changed, some residents crafted at the same time and made some paper wreaths

Our dear Maureen was the last resident to volunteer her time with the British Legion. She was very excited and thoroughly enjoyed every moment. She particularly enjoyed entertaining and meeting the children who were shopping with their parents or grandparents, pushing their own small shopping trolleys. She often shared how much "fun" she used to have grocery shopping with her twin toddlers, with one going one way and the other going the opposite direction. 😂

Lovely morning was had 🇬🇧

Today, we made two visits to Otley Garden Centre and had a delightful time on both occasions.

Residents boarded our mini-bus, and we embarked on our journey. It seemed only fitting to visit the cafe for refreshments and a slice of Christmas cake....especially when we were surrounded by Christmas 🎄

Our residents tried on festive headwear, shopped, posed in front of the beautiful trees, and enjoyed some giggles and each others company 😀
Thank you Mark for another 2 fantastic trips for our residents making memories and smiles 🥰

Yesterday was quite a busy day. We began by reminiscing about Bonfire Night, discussing the sounds and colors associated with it before creating our own on the interactive table. Jean and Dot were particularly captivated, and even our family member Michelle joined in. Following that, we had a Bonfire Night quiz downstairs, which, despite not going as smoothly as planned for various reasons, still provided us with some laughter. Afterward, we washed our hands on Haven (some ladies dont like the feel of the gloves) and prepared some edible chocolate-covered sparklers. Finally, to finish off the day of activities, before the pub night and firewirk display, downstairs engaged in some Bonfire Night watercolor art with Gary....it was a busy, busy day, but so much fun.

It's truly remarkable to think this was our third bonfire event at the Manor; time certainly does fly. Residents and their loved ones gathered in the bar, where they enjoyed a meal of pie and peas or jacket potato with chili, followed by homemade parkin for dessert.

After everyone had finished eating, they bundled up warmly and settled in the garden to watch our excellent handyman, Gary, set off our modest firework display. We truly appreciate his invaluable assistance and would be lost without him. Some residents opted to watch from the lounges, where it was a bit warmer.

While we watched, hot chocolates with whipped cream were served, and a shot of Baileys or whiskey could be added for additional warmth. And of course, Bonfire Night wouldn't be complete without a sparkler, would it?

We received fantastic feedback from all who attended🙂

Everyone was asked for consent if photographs
