Leeds city council are illuminating the Leeds Civic buildings pink this evening to observe our special day of meditation in remembrance of our founder, Brahma Baba 💗😊

Civic buildings and others in the city will be switching their colours to pink this evening in observation of Founder's Day for the Brahma Kumaris.

The Brahma Kumaris are a spiritual movement that originated in Hyderabad, Sindh, during the 1930s. The Brahma Kumaris movement was founded by Lekhraj Kripalani. The organisation is known for the prominent role that women play in the movement.

It teaches a type of meditation that emphasises identity as souls rather than bodies. Adherents believe that all souls are good by nature and that God is the source of all goodness. The organisation teaches the need to transcend labels associated with the body, such as race, nationality, religion, and gender, and it aspires to establish a global culture based on what it calls soul-consciousness. -Wikipedia

18th of January is a special day for the Brahma Kumaris, marked by silence and collective meditation . On the 18th January 1969, the founder of the organisation, Brahma Baba, passed away. He had dedicated his life to spiritual service and become an example of humility and generosity in leadership.
In particular, he empowered women in India at a time when they had little say in the community, and the organisation has been led by women ever since his passing. In Leeds, we will be having a special day of meditation and reflection to mark this day. 💫✨️💗

Our Story

We offer the teachings of Raja Yoga meditation as a way of experiencing peace of mind and a positive approach to life.

We believe that everyone has innate qualities and strengths and practising Raja Yoga enables us to reconnect to them. Many ways of meditating focus on trying to empty the mind. In Raja Yoga Meditation rather than emptying the mind of thoughts, the mind is filled with positive thoughts; these can replace negative self beliefs and help to strengthen willpower in order to change unhelpful behaviour and improve relationships.

We hold a variety of talks, workshops and courses, which are held at Weetwood Hall, West Park, in North Leeds. As we are a charity, all our events are offered free of charge. We do accept donations to help us continue to offer events. All the administration and teaching roles are filled by volunteers who use Raja Yoga meditation in their daily lives.
