For children with complex disabilities GMFCS levels IV and V, the way their body is positioned every day can have a meaningful impact on their systemic health, respiration, digestion and musculoskeletal system with growth and development.

The Goldsmith Indices of Body Symmetry measurement assessment is a validated tool to measure 3D chest shape changes and hip wind sweep distortion. Monitoring body symmetry is essential in the effort to protect structures and the systems of function. Measurements are carried out alongside CPIP (cerebral Palsy Integrated Pathway).

Why get measured?

✨ Spots early signs of body twists or asymmetries.
✨ Helps us prevent deteriorating secondary complications like hip dislocation and scoliosis

What an inspiring experience at the Collaboration in Rehab Conference yesterday in Leeds! Proudly hosted by Healing Touch Rehab, Positive OT & Case Management and Intospeech.

The energy in the room was filled with shared insights, meaningful connections, and a collective passion for improving outcomes across the rehabilitation journey. It was a powerful reminder that when we come together across disciplines, perspectives, and experiences, we create real momentum for change.

From thought-provoking discussions to innovative approaches in practice, the key takeaway was clear- collaboration isn’t just a value, it’s the vehicle that drives better outcomes for the clients and families we serve. With teamwork and collective working across disciplines, we transform not just our practice but the lived experience of every client’s rehabilitation journey.
