“..Following a lengthy stay in an adolescent psychiatric unit at 14 years old, I learned first-hand, how cold the medical model of mental health treatment can be and set out to learn a better way to alleviate my suffering. I went on course after course, ate up books of spiritual teachers, and decided to dedicate my life to transforming my attitudes, trigger reactions and life-long patterns. Sure enough, I started to recognize that all the triggers I felt were an opportunity for spiritual growth and I began to enjoy the process of learning. Of getting to know myself, befriend myself, hold myself…”

INCREDIBLE first meeting with our brand new team of scholarship facilitators from across West Yorkshire today!!🏆😍🔥

This team have now formed our core training steering group, to ensure our new form of HAP (HEROES Approach Practitioner) training is co-produced and has tackling health inequalities at its core, which will always be at the root of our values within our business.

This team, intentionally sought out and cherry picked by us, due to them all having such passion for serving marginalised communities, is made up of EXCEPTIONAL people from the WY region, covering Huddersfield, Wakefield, Birstall, Batley, Bradford and Leeds 🤝🏽

This team will operate using the unique HEROES Framework, and today each one of them brought such powerful ideas today of how they would potentially like to use their skills in the following ways;

🧩Engaging African heritage communities through group and 1:1 coaching support
🧩Groupwork with Asian women
🧩Bringing the HEROES methods back into existing charitable organisations
🧩Creating men’s groups
🧩Training young men to run their own groups
🧩In educational settings and schools, tailoring the existing HEROES programme to under 18s
🧩Using the methods and peer support through the NHS Chronic pain service
🧩Training teachers and staff
🧩And infiltrating the criminal justice service

Exceptional group. Inspirational passion. Mammoth potential.

And this is just the beginning…

Thanks for supporting us to now expand out of Leeds, tackling health inequalities throughout our West Yorkshire region and beyond.. 🤍

A phenomenal night at the for HEROES Programme, with my soulie (and our co-director!) ✨
It was moving to see such a strong focus on mental health in the performing arts weaved throughout the entire evening. Not sure if all of that will make it into the televised show, but I do hope so.

As someone who used to be a full-time gigging singer songwriter, as those of you who have been following me for a long time will know, and as someone who once received support from during a difficult time, I know how much of a lifeline this kind of care can be.
A powerful reminder that when we nurture the wellbeing of artists, we don’t just protect individuals- we protect the magic they bring into the world. Creativity and wellbeing must always go hand in hand 🤝🏽
So many people who struggle emotionally end up channeling their difficulties into artistic expression through creativity. I know for me that when I was really unwell emotionally I sometimes wouldn’t be able to explain what I was experiencing, but I would always be able to put it into a song.
It was humbling to watch the performers through the lens of just being humans with their own internal worlds and not get lost in the glitz of seeing them on stage.
Highlights included Jessie J’s performance of a song she wrote after her dear friend passed by su***de, Bob Geldof taking to the stage with the news casters from the 80’s who first brought the Ethiopian starvation disaster story to the UK, and to hear live how their sheer determination and will to help created a movement in Band Aid / Live Aid. And seeing the stories played on screen of many of the creatives who have been supported through difficult times through the Royal Variety fund for performer mental health was fabulous to see.
Here’s to more mixing business with pleasure! 🤍🤍🤍

Did you learn to relate to others from a place of asking “Who do I need to be in order to relate to you?”, rather than just showing up as who you are?

You don’t have to perform for anyone, for you to be ‘good enough’ 🤍

Fresh site LOADED🤍 And I’m proud to share my story, share my journey, share my truth and where I came from on it.

My story is one I once was extremely ashamed of. A story where I would do anything to hide my past, living so much of my life trying to “fit in” or “pretend I’m normal”. But my understanding of that word means NOTHING any more.

The truth is that we are all “normal” for what we have been through as humans.

HEROES will always be grounded in lived experience, led by lived experience and the teachings embodied by lived experience. The more I heal myself the more I can help others.

Knowledge doesn’t become wisdom until we put it into practice. So my commitment is to continue to learn, grow, heal and develop alongside all the people I have the privilege of working with on their healing journey.

We train our practitioners to work with our group members with pure presence, in the truth of what a healing encounter is embodied by- not hierarchy, not “us and them”, not judgement, but by pure human connection- a relationship of safety, validation, compassion and education. For both parties. Because in truth it’s always a teaching learning experience.

I’m grateful to all the people I’ve coached and taught over the years who have often been my guiding light to surrendering deeper and deeper in my own journey.

I love HEROES and what we’re creating with this project I developed with so much love and poured my own recovery journey into. The 14 year old me is right with me on this journey and I hold her hand as we continue to expand- NOT with ambition any more, but with love and service and surrender to trust again and again and again.

To read my full story head to the site and take a look at how you can come be trained by me in January 🤝🏽 🤍

Mammoth thanks for our incredible new website, and for the shots. And for all the safety he provides for me to be fully creative, not only as my partner but now as co-director of 💞

HAPPY WORLD MENTAL HEALTH DAY!! Today we’ve been in the studio all day filming for our HEROES Programme digital version 🥹
Our filming fell on today quite un-intentionally but I couldn’t have thought of a better way to send a love letter to all those who are living with mental health difficulties than to narrate this programme- which I’ve poured my heart, soul and my own personal recovery journey into.

Reflecting, and sharing my lived experience today, I cannot believe how far I’ve come. Recovery sincerely is always possible, with the right guidance and education- and I can’t wait to spread this message, and these teachings even further.

Cannot thank enough for funding and supporting the development and expansion of 🤍

Thanks dream team and Gareth for building and filming the online platform and to my incredible partner for being so solidly by my side with it alllll- what a team🤍🥰💞

Ps- EVERY DAY IS WORLD MENTAL HEALTH DAY!!!!!!!!!! 😜

Love x
