👄This November, the Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland Integrated Care Board has teamed up with the East Midlands Cancer Alliance Oracle Cancer Trust and the Cancer Community Connectors in Leicester to shine a spotlight on mouth cancer.

The campaign aims to raise awareness of the symptoms and highlight the increased risks linked to sh**ha smoking and chewing paan/betel nut - especially within South Asian, Middle Eastern and Black communities where cases of Mouth Cancer are higher.

Other risk factors include cigarette smoking, HPV (Human Papillomavirus) infection, heavy alcohol use and having an unhealthy diet and being overweight/obese.

Mouth cancer claims one life every three hours in the UK. Over 10,000 people are diagnosed each year, but early detection can save lives. If caught early, 85 out of 100 people survive.

🩺 Do you experience heartburn, indigestion, or acid reflux?

A pioneering research programme, Heartburn Health is now live in Leicester for a LIMITED TIME.

They are looking for volunteers aged 55-79 to help the NHS research these symptoms, which affect 1 in 4 adults in the UK and can lead to more serious conditions, such as cancer.

Are you able to take part before November 26th and contribute to solutions for heartburn, indigestion and acid reflux?

It's Safeguarding Adults Week and we are supporting the campaign led by the Ann Craft Trust which is a leading authority on safeguarding adults.

This year's safeguarding focus is about Prevention.

It’s important to learn the right lessons when things go wrong.

But it is much better to prevent abuse from occurring in the first place than it is to respond to instances of harm, neglect, and isolation.

There are some excellent resources on the Ann Craft Trust website.

At Healthwatch Leicester and Leicestershire we make sure that prevention is embedded in our policies and procedures.

👶 Maternity care is being closely monitored in Leicester and Leicestershire.

Local Healthwatch is delighted to be involved in the process of making change for the better working with Maternity and Neonatal Voices Partnership (MNVP), an independent voice for mothers, birthing partners and families across Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland.

This Thursday 20th November you are invited to join us to celebrate the launch of the MNVP.

This event will be taking place at Voluntary Action LeicesterShire (VAL) at 1.00pm - 3.00pm.

It is also open to families/parents to attend with their children, and we will reimburse expenses.

Come along and find out how MNVP is working for mothers and families to drive improvements across maternity and neonatal services in the local region.
