I am passionate about working with primarily mums, fantastic at looking after their gorgeous families but in doing so have neglected themselves, their own health, fitness and happiness and found themselves with a poor relationship with food. Together we work online on a number of different aspects of health, nutrition, lifestyle and mindset to help them to feel their happiest and healthiest selves both inside and out to enable them to feel alive and energised to best show up for those closest to them every day.

Let’s talk about MENOPAUSE and bone health for a moment – something you definitely want to think about when looking after your body to ease some of those menopausal aches and pains.
Bone breakdown accelerates as we move through the menopause due to oestrogen levels dropping which can result in osteoporosis among other symptoms.
We’ve spoken many times here about the menopause not being something that we dread and we can in fact manage many of the downsides that tend to come with it.
So, what can we do to help combat that bone breakdown?
🏋🏻‍♀️ Resistance exercise – body weight or heavy lifting, it doesn’t matter but I will go to my grave shouting about the benefits of resistance exercise for us all, especially women at this stage of our lives.
🐟 Protein – try for a serving at least at each meal
🌞 Vitamin D – most of us in the UK, especially at this time of year, are deficient. A simple over the counter supplement can help with that.
🥛 Calcium – 3 healthy servings of calcium each day is the aim here.

Can we just take a moment to remember that weight is NOT the only measure of good health – be it ‘overweight’ or ‘underweight’?

Can we just allow others to move their bodies without making assumptions or comments?

You really have no idea what’s going on with anyone else, what unseen things they’re managing or have managed to overcome and even if that is insignificant with reference to the way that their body looks, you still have no place dishing out unwanted opinions.

The world needs more love, for every BODY. ✌🏼🌻🖤

The good days don’t really matter, the days when we are obstacle free for our health and wellbeing, they’re few and far between, what matters the most is how we respond when life puts things in the way. That’s almost every day, the majority of the time, what forms the largest part of our health and wellbeing ultimately.

So, what happens when work forces a late night so you don’t feel like getting up in the morning? What happens when you leave your nutritious prepared lunch in the fridge? What happens when it’s raining and you have an outdoor training session planned?

We can all do it when things are exactly as we want them to be. What about when things aren’t optimal?

It’s hard to begin with but keep working on those habits, on those routines, it then just becomes something that you do without excuse. ✌🏼🌻🖤

Update time… 🎉

As I take on my biggest challenge yet, 900 miles, 10 days, and 3 disciplines for MOVE Against Cancer, I needed someone in my corner to help guide me through the chaos and keep me on the straight and narrow!

So, I’m beyond excited to be working with who’ll be coaching me through this journey 🙌

Dan brings SO much knowledge and kindness and I’m so happy to be working together — he’s already dealing with me being annoying and exercising great patience when I’m a technology dinosaur and can’t get the training apps to work - I have promised that I won’t be this high maintenance all along!

This partnership feels really cool for me — it’s collaboration, learning, and hopefully being part of something bigger than a single event moving forward. I’m so grateful for the generosity, time, and energy Dan is giving to help make this challenge possible.

It goes without saying that I am very grateful for those that have helped me build some endurance foundations up to now, as always.

I can’t wait to share more about what we’re working on, the training behind the scenes, and how Dan is helping me prepare for 900 miles of movement for an incredible cause.

Appear somehow to have developed some kind of mental block with swimming – not ideal as someone who loves triathlon and has a big old challenge next year, involving open water swimming.

Open water, pool, nothing has happened just my brain has decided that a swimming session means absolute DREAD.

Quite unsure if it’s the cold (yep, I’m even cold in a heated pool indoors and have quite a legitimate fear of being cold), the drama and violence that comes from fellow swimmers, being slow as hell and feeling bad about myself because of that – who knows.

BUT the wild thing is, I sit in the car with dread beforehand and it’s almost always fine and actually enjoyable!

So, if anyone has any ideas about how the brain can get over this I’m all out!!

AND this is your sign to go get whatever is troubling you – it’s barely ever as bad as you think.

Why I’m Taking You Behind the Scenes…

You might have seen that I’m taking on something big next year:

🚴‍♀️ Around 900 miles, 🏊‍♀️ swimming, cycling and running, 🏃‍♀️ in 10 days, to celebrate MOVE Against Cancer’s 10th anniversary and raise awareness for our incredible work supporting young people to rebuild life through movement.
BUT I don’t just want to share the shiny challenge moments.

I want to take you on the journey with me – you can be sure that not all of the moments are going to be shiny, in the run up and during the event itself. Early mornings, wobbles, the things you might not ordinarily see.

I was feeling pretty low in beans this week one day after work and I had a double training session on the programme. I know, in reality, it was all in my head, it wasn’t my body that needed a rest (it’s important to be able to distinguish between the two) so I just had to get on with it.

When I found myself complaining, someone said to me - ‘but what if it’s great?’ - THAT was all I needed to take into my session. And let me tell you, it was great! So, perhaps, if you aren’t feeling it this week, just that simple question to yourself could make all of the difference to your motivation?
