Ready to reclaim your space and prioritise self-care? 🌟

Dive into my blog on setting boundaries – because you deserve a life that respects your needs and dreams.

If there’s two things I could talk about all day it would be self-care and boundaries! My “self-care” routine is definitely a continuing work-in-progress, but at least it’s on my radar now. I went through the majority of my life not knowing what self-care is, let alone how important it is. A...

Do you ever have a niggly voice in the back of your head telling you that you aren’t good enough?

I’d imagine that answer is yes as it’s a pretty normal phenomenon!

So, here’s a tip to help you combat it:

Start a Smile Jar or a Smile Notes on your phone.

Take an empty jar or open a blank note on your mobile.

Then, every time something goes well for you, you get a compliment or you step out of your comfort zone, write it down in your phone or on paper and pop it into your Smile Jar

Anything positive, no matter how small.

You’ll be surprised how quickly it fills!

Then, when you’re having a bad day, you have a reminder that actually, you’re pretty cool 😊

It’s fast, free and effective

Give it a go and let me know how you get on 🫶🏼

Do you ever think:

* I should be happy, I have a job and my own house
* I should be happy, there are people worse off than me
* I should be happy, I have lovely friends or family

And what do I think to that?

Says who?!

When you use the word ‘should’, it means at some point you have been given messages about what you’re expected to feel - and could be dismissing how you actually feel

Like as a child when an adult gives you a present and you feel really disappointed, yet you have to pretend to be grateful!

These messages (direct or indirect) from our parents, caregivers, society, teachers etc, are constantly telling us how we should be feeling - and this makes us disconnect further from how we truly feel.

If you’d like some support in accessing your feelings or working through your thoughts, I can help.

How do you feel if someone starts crying in front of you?

* Uncomfortable?
* Awkward?
* Embarrassed?
* All of the above?

It can be difficult seeing someone cry especially if it’s someone you care about and it’s natural to want to make them feel better.

But your awkwardness can hamper their tears and give the message that it’s not okay to cry.

So what SHOULD you do?

Honestly, the best thing to do is nothing. Don’t try to fix them or cheer them up.

Just be there for them.

Crying is a process that needs to happen to help wounds to heal, so allow the tears to come.

Just give the person some space and if appropriate some physical contact: a hug, or a hand placed on their arm can help enormously.

So the next time you’re there when someone cries, resist the urge to try to stop them and allow them some time and space. They will really appreciate it - I promise!
