For the last year the little Green Community have been working in the background trying to source some land for us to be able to grow food for the community locally.

Its been difficult and much of the empty land in our area has already been bought up by developers and plans for more housing have been written.

This is incredibly disappointing and could leave us completely vulnerable should we ever run into a food crisis.

Our main aim is to not only be able to provide in times of adversity but also for our elders to educate our youngest, our minority groups to have a family, and our mental health sufferers and people with disabilities to have somewhere that they can come and talk and be a part of something beautiful.

Halewood is our community and our vision can only bring us closer.

I believe we will find somewhere soon to set up and start growing.

Today is International Day of the World’s Indigenous People.

This day is now more significant than ever before.

Through 100's of years of persecution and colonialism, millions of indigenous people have lost their lives as a result of mass genocide, enslavement, being robbed of their land or displaced through war and famine.

In todays world, many indigenous people face an even bigger threat from the global environmental climate crisis and are being displaced due to uninhabitable conditions.

Long ago Indigenous People where the keepers of the land, and wardens of the sea, over time their harmonious ways of living at one with the land has been forgotten and skills, wisdom and spirituality have been lost.

Modern farming techniques to keep up with demands from the west combined with the over fishing of the sea's has seen the lands diminished off all natural goodness and the sea's polluted, empty, void of life.

Capitalism maybe the culprit but somehow seems to evade culpability..

Inequality is still happening around the world today and those who once rightfully ownd the land deserve to walk it with dignity.

When the Oil companies stop drilling, it's going to be down to the local communities to work at fixing the environment around us, community climate so to speak.

This will mean holding onto any green and brown spaces in your area and using it to grow trees and organic produce for C02 sequestration.

No more building on green and brown space.

We can not rely on big oil companies to fix the problem they created as they will only see new ways of making money from us to feed their greed.

The little green community is starting a series of projects under the main project (To save a planet) the idea is to have a community led café and zero waste store with land that is farmed with regenerative methods to grow produce that will supply the store and the café and as ingredients in fresh meals given or sold to customers at an affordable price.
The café, store and land do not need to be attached as a feeder system can be created. The land will also be the home to a community composting hub and will put good use to local organic waste, The café will also be a learning hub teaching lifestyle and diet, health and wellbeing, eco living, and how to create an edible garden so a person could become partially self-sustaining should a serious issue arise in the future.
