We’ve ended the week with a great ‘Circuits’ class - A bit of a ‘Sting’ in the Tail’ but that didn’t phase my class members!

Surprise Multiple Choice - Two complete rounds of 12 workstations using a variety of equipment, weights, resistance bands, bender balls, batons - Isometric exercises, freestanding, squats & wall push-ups to name a few!

April Challenge - The Sit-to-Stand Exercises - Why are they so important?

The simple act of standing up from a chair is something we do every day, without even thinking about how we perform this move. .

However, once we start to struggle to get off a chair, car seat, toilet etc. .We soon realise we are starting to lose our ‘Core Strength’

But the good news is - We can do something about it, as it’s never too late to start these exercises. .

Benefits of Sit-to-Stand Exercises:

❇️ Improves you core strength
❇️ Strengthens your legs
❇️ Improves balance and stability
❇️ Supports joint health and mobility
❇️ Helps maintain independence
❇️ Reduces risk of falls
❇️ Boosts overall functional fitness

🔸 Test yourself each week
🔸 How many in 30 seconds
🔸 Try to increase the number

Consistency is key—just a few minutes a day can make a big difference to your core strength. .

Have a look at our link below for the correct way to perform a Sit to Stand

Listening to the importance of exercise - It’s music to my ears and it backs up the information I give out my classes - Have a listen 💁‍♀️

We’ve had a great week of classes, all of which have had a bit of a twist in them. You know how I like to shake things up & keep you on your toes (literally)

❇️ Monday & Tuesdays classes at St Helens Chain Lane Community Centre & St Ann's Millennium Centre
Were all about upper & lower body strength, but a ‘seated’ section soon brought in a challenge with the additional coordination, recall & memory added which prompted plenty of fun & laughter. . Some funny shapes (that’s all I’m saying)

❇️ Thursday & Fridays classes at Rainhill Guide House something we don’t normally do - ‘seated warm-up’

❇️ Easy, so everyone thought. . However, they soon realised this was not going to be as easy as they first thought and that was evident within the first 5mins 💁‍♀️

❇️ A stripped back version of our leg strength & upper body work soon revealed the weaknesses in muscles & joints and how easy mobility can be reduced without realising. .

❇️ Taking our exercises back to basics with seated strength, flexibility & coordination surprised everyone. .

❇️ I’ve had some great feedback this week, which is most encouraging and helpful as we move forward with our fitness programme. .

Don’t forget your homework 📚 even if it’s just ‘The Cuppa ☕️ Routine’

**Feet** 👣
Why do we work hard in class to improve the strength in our feet/ankles? Give some thought to your fantastic feet!

Your feet are mechanical miracles when you consider they have 26 bones, 33 joints and more than a hundred muscles, tendons, and ligaments.

They take the weight of us everywhere, and we tend to only take notice of them when something goes wrong.

Good balance relies on many things but strong ankles and feet are really important for stability. Researchers found that by doing some simple resistance exercises three times a week improved functional mobility and balance.

We also do a selection of the following in all our classes > > >

❇️ Heel to toe steps
❇️ Stretching up onto toes.
❇️ Leaning back onto heels.
❇️ Walking on the balls of the feet.
❇️ Tightrope walking (without the tightrope 😉)

Look after your feet, they take all the weight and they have your back 👣
