A little act of kindness can mean so much. 🧶

One of our lovely residents, Kim at Whittington Care Home, has been lovingly knitting tiny hats for the home's therapy dolls, and they’ve brought so many smiles and comforting moments to our residents.

The dolls are a wonderful source of reassurance, reminiscence and connection,and these handmade hats make them even more special.

Residents at Whittington Care Home recently admired the beautifully decorated trees during a trip to the Christmas Tree Festival at the famous Crooked Spire in Chesterfield. 🎄⛪

The Power of Music in Our Homes 🎶

Music has a unique way of connecting people, especially those living with dementia. 🎼

A familiar tune can spark a memory, lift a mood, and offer comfort in a way words sometimes can’t.

Across Summit Care Group and We Care Group, music is woven into daily life, and we see its impact time and time again. 💛💙

At this time of year, our homes are beginning to enjoy Christmas songs and carols, the same melodies many of our residents have cherished for decades.

❄️Tips for staying warm this winter ❄️

As temperatures drop, older adults need to stay warm, comfortable, and safe.

Here are some simple ways to keep cosy during the colder months:

• Layer up with light, comfortable clothing rather than one thick layer
• Keep blankets close by, especially when resting or watching TV
• Enjoy warm drinks throughout the day to help maintain body warmth
• Close curtains before it gets dark to keep heat inside the home
• Keep doors closed in rooms you’re not using
• Use draught excluders where possible
• Move around regularly, even gentle stretches can help boost warmth
• Check heating is set to a safe and comfortable level
• Make sure slippers and socks have a good grip to prevent slips
• Ask family or neighbours for help if you’re feeling cold or worried

If you have an elderly loved one or neighbour, a quick check-in, a warm meal or helping with shopping can make a big difference.

☕ Cosy Afternoons Together 🎄

There’s nothing better than a warm drink, good company, and a few laughs on a chilly November afternoon.
